In my experience, you change the rules and the spammers and bullshitters and ne'er-do-wells will just change the game and tactics. All that stricter rules would do (in my opinion) is restrict the members who actually want to participate and engage the community.

IMO, a ban is still the single most effective spam stopper as rules and regulations really only apply to honest people anyway. Similar to a the lock on the front door of your home. It keeps honest people honest and the person who wants in WILL find a way in.

Same applies to spam. There are steps you can take to stem the flow, however you'll never stop the try hards. Report and Ignore is the motto for life.

I second this motion, honestly i was quite surprised when i first saw it after the redesign, that even 0 post users can have a live link in their profiles.

OK, I couldn't agree more with this. I have probably reported more shitty spam posts in the last few days than since I joined the site. Guess what, most of them had a URL on display!!!

I created the thread as suggested by @BassTrackerBoats even though it was directed @MisterF because I am sick of the spam fest that this forum is becoming.
