Seriously, Can 1 link from a site with 30000 linking domains - if you are the only link on that site with a decent competition keyword. Will that make you rank 1 instantly?

Can one single link be that powerful?

One link from a PR 10 domain means 1 trillion links from any other domain on the WWW.

For example, if Google.com linked to any page of yours, you'd be #1 for any term contained in that link even if you talk about stuffed animals on your target page.

No, the one link was destroyed years ago.

Hmm this is what I want to know too..

If a page linking to me has lets say 10k domains linking to it, then do I get the power from those 10k backlinks or not? :D

You need to do a bit of research rather than asking these questions

i'd say yes if this was the past. Right now, I believe link power still plays a role but in a diminished state. It would really be more about where the links are from, the quality of the text and the relevancy of the domain linking to you of the topic. But of course if you get do follow links from big sites like Google or Huffington Post etc, those naturally have power to boost rankings significantly even if your site was totally unrelated to search engines or news portal t opicals.

The power of each link is not only calculated by taking into account the number of backlinks a website has. Relevancy, authority (which comes mostly from backlinks anyway), age, page backlinks and a hundred other factors play a role. It's more complicated than one may think and no one knows the exact algorithm of how much power a link holds except Google, so threads and questions like these are completely useless!

If you want to guess, test for yourself. If you want another opinion from the community, you need to give more details as what you have provided is not enough, for example what is the competition like, are those 30k backlinks totally spam or not, is the site authoritative in its niche, is the text relevant enough, how keywords are used, anchor text, etc etc... But I can tell you that with one link alone, you will not rank #1 in medium to hard competition, unless the link was from Google as someone above mentioned.

Getting link from google is dream but agree with you totally OP!

Getting links from authority sites that have built links since many years will do something Great for you because they brought value to google and Google knows them well and trust them. so you will rank
