I browse the social networking section a lot. 2 out of 3 posts I read are uses offering their service in some way. Low quality accounts usually asking users to add them to Skype.

I remember being here in 2010 and it wasn't like that. Did Harro sell up?

That's no
This is why

That's not really a reason. Plenty of forums have more members than BHW and can handle the majority of their spam.

Many of us here are serial spammers, or blackhat marketers. We know how spam damages a websites reputation. That's why websites fight back and ensure we can't make money from their platforms.

This is a site where people are here to learn things to make money, so its a good site to spam compared to a forum about a tv show.

OP, when you see spam, report it. The moderators take care of it pretty quickly.

As for a long term solution to the spam problem, I know they've been working on it; I received an alert last month about a new user restriction preventing new members from sharing links. If you have a better suggestion, post it in the forum feedback sub-forum.

In the meantime, I'll go and report all of the members selling outside of the BST section in the social media section.

Idk what you're talking about OP. Spam died when ceo sam was kicked off of the forum.

Maybe BHW could have a tier lower to mods, that is able to report faster than 15 seconds if xenforo supports it.
If I recall correctly, one member (I think another Jr. Exec) suggested that Jr. Execs and Execs should be able to temp ban members or have a bit more "power" to stop spammers (or something like that).

That seems good but it has the ability to be abused compared to just being able to making reports quickly.
Yeah, I get what you're saying.

Although at the same time, I've never actually come across that 15 second report limit. Even on days where I bombard the moderators with report after report... After report, I always make sure to add in as much detail as necessary in order for them to make it easier for the moderators to make a swift decision.

I think maybe the migration of BHW put the spam filtering back a step but I noticed that recently the level of spam is going down so i think the admins are well in to stopping it.

Maybe there should be a point system? The more reports you have done (That have been reviewed and posts removed/ user banned) The smaller your interval is? I agree 15 seconds is was too high

Someone should invite Matt Cutts to moderate the forum.

I can get behind that, but only if I get a little badge next to my name that says "Frequent Snitch", emblazoned with sparkly pink glitter letters. :p

All right, I'd probably support it anyway.
