Targeting Small Business Customers Based on Internet Provider

Hello,

I need some help targeting small business customers based on their internet providers. I had an idea of using a couple of US based freelancers from Odesk/Upwork to research and cold call local businesses based on local zip codes with a script to book appointments, but i dont know if i can trust that they would use their time efficiently.

What would you do to target small business in your area if you're trying to resell a service like internet security or VoIP?

Any resources that you have used to gather information on local businesses?

An easy way to see if they would be using their time efficiently is to create a skype account for each worker. With Skype's history you would see the numbers they called, and the duration of their call.

I am sure there is software specifically built for this case, I just don't know of any.

Ill look into the skype solution you mentioned.

One of my biggest hurdles is finding a list of local businesses for them to call. Does anyone know of a good resource for this type of thing?

If you're going by zip code you can use something to scrape businesses in their zip code. For example I've used Profit Renegade for city, state searches and you can do them in bulk (literally a few hundred towns at a time). I would assume zip would work but I'm not 100% sure. Then you can use something to either track their calls or time. If you're going by time something like http://timedoctor.com or similar could work. If you're going by calls you can use something like Analytic Call Tracking Enterprise to see how many calls are made. There may be better alternatives to all of those but those are the one's I use, minus the timedoctor site but it's been recommended to me.
