Massive Ranking Drops! (Doesn't Look Like Dance)

So i had purchased 3 different services from the BST one was a citation service, and the second and third were diversity services which included web 2.0's, articles, and etc. About 4 days ago i noticed my rankings dropping severely. All the keywords containing terms which i used as anchors have dropped. The services were from highly reputable members and i KNOW that they shouldn't have harmed my rankings. Link building has always been consistent on my domain and no risky seo has been done on this site. I've seen dancing before but this is just scary! I have checked web master tools and no manual actions have been found. I know everyone is assuming google rolled out an algo update but when i was reading posts regarding the update many members claimed to see a serp rise and only a very small few saw a decrease in rankings. What are your thoughts?

PS: The keywords that are up DO NOT CONTAIN THE KEYWORDS USED WITHIN THE ANCHORS we created links for!

I have seen a big decrease for two of my keywords, did yours replace with a different page? mine is now on 2 page with my homepage ranking instead of my landing page, strange.

it was an algo update, some sites rised some dropped, may be your ranks will be back may be not. I think you dont have to panic and create topic after each minus 4-5 position drop, be patien, nothing outrageous there on your screen. My sites dropped too, but I think we just have to wait one-two more weeks to see final result of this update

I used my personal PBN (which is still indexed) to rank those websites .
There's been no change for some other keywords, this is really weird .

WHEN did your tracking pick up on the drops?

According to Algoroo, there has been a lot of shuffling on September 3rd. Possible Google update.

If your sites fell around the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, you might have been screwed by Penguin. It is a possibility.

My results are mixed. I've seen some sites have huge gains, while I've seen others have huge drops. Not sure what exactly the target of the update was since out of 7 websites, 4 went up, 3 went down. 5 of the websites out of 7 were all using the same kind of link building.

I'm facing the same shit too. The page i currently rank for page 1 is now vanished and replaced with an informative page.
And serps still bouncing like hell.

It's not a dance, it's a Penguin update that's rolling out (likely).

What country is this in?

Also, check your rank on "brand" meaning if you have "domain name.com" seerch for "domain name" and see if it ranks there.

If so, then my hypothesis is true, Googlr switched Penguin from a site-wide penalty to a keyword-by-keyword / page -by-page penalty.

It seems Google has accepted negative SEO cannot be stopped, so they switched Penguin to keyword based, so companies brands don't tank after negative SEO.

The USA update is peanuts compared to what they launched in Germany / UK... Hold your breath, the big one is coming to the USA soon.

Well those rankings drop if the Quality of the links are not that reliable or solid. Look for long term SEO rankings that are whitehat not Short term Blackhat rankings!

This might be due to the recent update Google is testing. SEROUNDTABLE have reported a possible core algo update.

Interesting. So what was on your home page exactly - can you describe it?

One of these two might have been the issue:

1. Too many targeted anchor texts or spam links towards the home page has penalised that page.

2. Content quality issue on the home page, or Rankbrain related. Ie. your home page is just not fitting the query nature of your keyword. Hence Google has picked a different page.

Simple way to test this: Change the home page content entirely - see what happens.

The website ranks for U.S keywords.

My Brand keyword is still ranking (1st page) and yesterday my top keyword jumped back to #1 (after changing the content and Title/Meta description for a bit), but today it's gone again . I'm going to change the Title/Meta Description again to see what result it yields .

That's what gets me. I have another website in the exact same niche that i used the exact same seo methods on and that one is rising in the serps... WTF?
