Since past year and a half i didnt get any new website to first spot of google. Everything gets stuck at the bottom of first page or on the second page.

I still have some websites that i build and ranked at #1 in 2014 that are still dominating the niche, and have authority with the same method, that i am using now. And i put much less work into link building.

What worked for me 2 years ago now gets me to max to the bottom of the 1st page and i put 3x more work and resources into it.

My method:

Usually i start with manually building 10-20 Web 2.0 with general or brand anchor. And sometimes also with Facebook, Twitter and Google+ page to which i slowly build some fake likes, shares etc.

Then some social bookmarks to WEB 2.0 to get them indexed (if half of them gets indexed i am lucky)

After i just make PBNs focused only about that niche and linking only to one money website (plus some authority websites). As anchor text i use my main keyword once or twice, then other LSI keywords that have searches, then some partial match keywords and brand + naked urls.

And this is what worked very well for me in the past. Now i build 15 PBNs which should get me to the top or at least near the top 2 years ago and it gets me to #10. I build 15 more PBNs spread through few months and it dances maybe up to #8 and then back to #9 or 10. During the time i also build some manual blog comments on niche related websites, some naked and brand links from some very nice websites, some paid directories and some other links.. And almost no movement...Stuck. Forever. For at least 6 months already... And i am seeing the same pattern on other websites that i am working on at the moment...

2 years ago i would be outranking fking ads in google with those backlinks, now i can hardly reach 1st page... And some of the keywords i am targeting are exactly the same that i used to totally dominate before i got manual penalty a year ago.

Above me are only high authority websites like toptenreviews.com, thesweethome.com, bestproducts.com etc. But still the 1st one has almost no content, no exact keyword in title, no good links to the page.. It ranks just coz of authority..

All of my websites are amazon affiliate websites, with product reviews and informative articles. At least 50 pages indexed. And i dont put any aff link until they are at least #3 and getting some decent traffic.

Any suggestions what to do and what i am doing wrong?

It feels like i have more than enough link power but i lack the authority or trust that my old websites have with much less backlinks.. How do i get this in 2016?

You need more/better/stronger links.

Problem solved.

I haven't known much of SEO in 2016 but all i know is this, the more your site is trusted by viewers the more likely you are to be in ahead of this race. Just make sure you put an eye to your site's on page and structure. Use various SEO tools to find where you go wrong. Take full advantage of social media and try not to fake it instead think of a way to earn genuine traffic from it. Engage your users wherever and whenever it is possible so that your site gets the maximum reach either in sales/business or with google rankings.

Don't rely on your 2014 knowledge alone :D You need to be updated with the SEO trends.... Although what you listed above is the same thing am doing. It is either you are in a very difficult niche or something is not clicking.

There are many new threads on SEO, and from there, I get to grab pretty information on what is working.

I might be wrong but I don't think pbns work quite aswell as 2 years ago. Also think ctr has become more important. I do e commerce so its a bit different but I really struggle to outrank sites like amazon even with a insane amount of powerful links.
If I have the same price as amazon more people will click amazon because they know the site so well, when I put my price down and people can see I'm cheaper than amazon in the SERPS my ctr rate goes right up and I normally go past

Build stronger links and don't rely on a single "method" of ranking. Do lots of tests yourself and disregard bullshit on guru blogs for success with SEO.

Paid public PBNs don't work as well that is. And the problem is almost ALL follow the same gameplan, with crap content... wordpress... shit tons of homepage OBL... and then a lot of them never renew hosting and the site and your links die after hosting runs out. Gee... no wonder they don't work lol. Yet BHW is up to it's eyeballs in cheap dollar PBNs. Very few KNOW how to build a quality PBN, and very few would be willing to pay the price for real quality. If you want to rank, you need quality links.

I guess you already know the problem:

Trying to outrank authority websites is a dangerous game, even if they are not optimized for that particular keyword.
Maybe do your keyword research again and find easier ones.

You're claiming the competition is the same. It's not.
You can't outrank the sweet home and toptenreviews unless you have thousands of dollars budget.

Forget about ranking for a while and focus on making your website as good as possible. If you do that, ranking improvements will come soon.

I'd spend more time uncovering niches and KW's that aren't dominated by authority sites like you mentioned.
It's all very well saying build stronger links - but in some cases the amount you will need to build and money you will need to spend will simply not be possible.

Diversify more. Diversity is key in ranking currently. What you're doing isn't working, so go make some manual links on a different platform that you don't normally use.

These days the guys earning the bacon are the ones who adapt and learn as time passes. You will need to do the same.
