This is how Popular Accounts are getting Hacked

I have two big IG accounts, they've combined followers of 700k and are from the same niche.

A few days ago i received an email supposedly from someone acting as IG about a password change about both of my accounts.

As first i panicked but then I checked the email from which it came and it was [email protected] . So basically it was a pathetic attempt at phishing. They sent the email to my email which was there in my bio.

Posting the same e-mail that you used to create your account in the bio is the worst idea ever.

It's like hanging your keys outside the door of your house.

Don't get surprised if somebody tries to "hack" you.

It has nothing to do with the email the account was created with... It could be a totally different email such as a business mail & people would still fall for it.

True. My email was different from the one i created the account with. Most people Such as me will fall for it if it's their time receiving a phishing email.

that does not make a difference in this case .......

the last sentence is fishy .. if you did not create a profile with this email let us know ...... yeah sure. Ig knows that.

Just look for https in the url if you ever click the links, there are ways to send emails even from official ig support emails and pretty easy accessible to anyone with a little spam knowledge.
