So,

If I promote an affiliate link on a platform (such as Yahoo Answers or Quora) other than an actual website, do I run the risk of getting my account terminated?

Thanks in advance

You might want to ask Amazon customer service. They are in a better position to answer you.

The answer to your question lays right the Amazon ToS (which I suggest your read it very carefully):

'
6. Order Processing
We will process Product orders placed by customers who follow Special Links from your site to the Amazon Site.'

As Quora or Yahoo answers are not your websites, you are allowed to promote your affiliate links there. Instead, I would promote my affiliate site on these platforms. This way, I think you don't break or bend the rules.

So, wait. You said I am allowed to promote my links there or no?

I am not an expert. But, as far as I know...you are allowed to promote your links only on your website. And you can promote your website wherever you want as long as you don't spam (I've heard Amazon is also looking at the linkbuilding and promotion strategy of your website.

No you're not allowed to promote your links there.
Yes your account will be terminated if you promote links from websites that you do not own.
Even your own facebook pages I've seen people getting terminated.

Damn.

Well, that pretty much blows this whole method then. I was going to shorten the links, but I guess Amazon will still catch on since the traffic wouldn't be direct.

I'm not in a position to risk my associates account because I have 2 websites that actually sell amazon products ethically. Guess I'll be skipping this method.

Thanks for the help guys

Just ask amazon, people here obviously don't really kmow it

Guys, the reason I asked is because obviously there is another thread and clearly a good number of people have had success with it. It might be outdated, but I don't understand why I'm getting mixed answers all over the boards

They wont ban you unless you make shit load of cash. If you look over Quora answer you will find many answers with Amazon Aff links and I am member of few groups where they post amazon steal deals with aff links and get paid every month.

But yeah its better to discuss the same with Associate support.

Ahh, makes sense. So Amazon associates is basically like the IRS of affiliate marketing. They won't waste their time on chump change, but if they see big numbers running through your account, they'll investigate.....

Yeah you got it right. Usually ban hammer appears when you spam shit out of something.
Besides if things are under control you will be safe but cant say for how long.

yes. you're doing the thing that against their TOS. You can only promote your affiliate links in your registered websites

lol so how about you stuff your link on some shit content then fire up GSA and Xrumer and blast the shit out of it in all the platforms? You'll earn fucking shit load of money right?
