Does anyone know the level of difficulty or ease it takes to become a Huffington Post blogger?

I have a little cousin that's an author on it and i'm a bit baffled. She writes sometimes, but I wouldn't deem her as a writer or editor.

I sent in a blog pitch based on direction from Rana Campbell on LinkedIn. What is the likelihood of becoming a Huffington Post blogger?

Have any of you successfully become authors on Huffington Post?

No, but i heard they do sent out invitations most times
 
Recently I came to know that it has become very easy to get an account on HuffPo. Articles will be published under your name on HuffPo but the major problem is that your link will not get indexed.

It may take couple of months to get noticed if you write the articles following their guidelines. Then it will be subjected to be reviewed by the HuffPo editors and will be indexed later.
 
Already sent in the blog pitch...now I just have to wait.

Yes I too noticed this trend...but if it isn't indexing quickly then what's the point waiting for months?
 
Indexing is the big issue here, articles posted in the new account will be published in the contributor platform and will get indexed only if it has valuable content. Once your articles get noticed and if you continue to provide informative pieces, then you will be labelled as a regular contributor.

After a certain period of time, all your articles will be published on the main blog and they will get indexed rather quickly.

I don't mind waiting, but can't you just submit the articles to the Google index yourself? Or even set up social signals to them etc.?
 
Its a long term goal..... When its comes to indexing.

You can also pitch ideas directly to ariana at hp (spell check her name).

You don't need any true credentials to post there. They accept just about everyone.

As long as your story is mildly interesting or panders to lefitst crowd, then you'll probably get in.

However, besides the fact that they're millionaires and don't pay for writing, they also changed their system a bit. It seems like the articles WE would submit are not now appearing in Google. So if we weren't getting paid for posting a 800 word article, at least we could try to grab some social followers or use this as a sales pitch. I think their links have always been nofollow, but to see them purposely eliminating some articles from searches, so we don't get much out of it, is pretty lame.

Correct me if I'm wrong though. This is just what one of their bloggers told me when she was ranting about it being worthless.

Its not that they accept everyone easily. Sometime it takes months to hear from them before you join them.

The Articles that are submitted from old account undergo Moderation and after moderation they either go Live or ignored. If it goes live then it will appear in search. The link from old accounts are still ********.

But this is not the case with new Accounts which is in Aethena, in new accounts the content does not go Moderation. It is posted instantly live and you have to wait till Editor reviews it. Review may take weeks to Month. If its reviewed then it will be indexed otherwise it wont be indexed. But link will be nofollow.

Sooner or Later HP gonna move all accounts to same platform and editorial will be equal for all. Now they are in Beta Testing for all new account platform so chill. It will settle down soon.
