What is SEOclerk?
SEOclerk is an IM forum and marketplace owned by iconicware. They operate in an eBay sort of style and allow every Tom, Dick and Harry to post a service on their site. Instead of carefully trialing and testing every service that is up for sale, like BHW, all you need to make your service visible to the public is an account on their website.
Backstory (Scroll down to the summary because this will be one big, boring rambly-rant):
Not very long ago, maybe a week or two, I came across one of their sites that apparently paid users to create new topics for them (The pay was incredibly generous as well and at the time I joined it was $.04 per word).
I signed up as soon as I could, built up a few hundred dollars' worth of content and waited for them to pay. After they paid and I knew they were legitimate I told a few of my friends about the site and they also started writing away.
At this point I found out that this site wasn't their only one, so I dropped them an email asking if they had any writing positions open, went through the usual process of providing samples, and lo and behold I found myself in the SEOclerk Skype chat after being offered a paid job on their mod team.
After a few days of working hard on both of their websites they started to change the earnings algorithm A LOT and this is really where the problems really started for me. SuperiorThan hid all of their earnings information and users no-longer had any idea how much they were working for, which is an obvious issue for anyone who values their time. That was fine for me as I still had SEOclerks to rely on, however that took a big change as well.
When I first started you had a daily balance (mine topped out at $80), which was automatically added to your SEOclerk account every 24 hours. One day they decided to make it so you had to manually request your earnings to be added and the first day this was implemented I lost $50 from my balance (This was never compensated for and they simply dismissed it). They also changed up the algorithm (They did not give anyone any information about this) and instead of getting payed for the 100 words I was originally, I found out that it was now 83 words (without telling anyone they decreased what they paid me for by 17%!!)
That sounds bad, but why should I avoid them?
One day I got home, booted up my computer to start writing on the site and I could not log in. I tried on both of their sites, no luck. Went to the Skype group and I saw that I had been REMOVED. Went to the owner's Skype and saw that I had been BLOCKED. After all this I had no idea what had happened, maybe there was a hack or something? so I went over to their support and they had actually blocked my email! Now I really knew something was up, so I contacted them from another email address and it went through.
A while later they replied telling me that my account had been removed because they thought my friend and I were the same person. (We logged in on the same IP like once out of the whole time we were members of the site when we met up). Now I was MAD MAD MAD. They blocked all of my accounts without even giving me the courtesy of telling me, or even asking if what they claimed was true (It is not by the way).
I started reading their TOS, which is 7500 words long so I have no idea what other goodies are hidden in there, and it does, in fairness to them, state they have the right to remove anyone's account without notice, but just because it is written there does not mean they have to do it.
I went from earning $80/day to earning 0 (I closed down all my past sales channels to focus on this) and what is worse, I was still owed $210 ($50 from the automation change but I gave up on this, and $160 from two day's earnings)
Summary:
I was offered a 'Paid Position' on SEOclerk's mod team and a few days ago they deleted me from all channels of communication as well as banning my account without even telling me. This leads me to believe they are not to be trusted in any way, shape, or form as they have acted in an extremely unprofessional and devious manner. They eventually agreed to pay me the money they owed however only 50% was paid and they have refused to re-instate my account as they "are scaling back our paid staff and can't accommodate your request to be on the FAQ Mod team."
Basically they looked for any small discrepancy so that they could cheap our and save themselves a tiny bit of money (after they already reduced the amount they paid SEOclerk mods by 17% and reduced the SuperiorThan pay per word by 25% (from .04 to .03).
Are you the only person who has had issues with SEOclerk?
Of course there are good services for sale on their platform but the fact that they like money a bit too much and instead of vetting sales threads they choose to allow them all and take a huge 20% cut of sales. Just by googling seoclerk you can see there are people calling it a scam and there are a lot of threads like that out there: 1 2 3 4 5 . While I was in the Mod chat there was a comment by someone claiming that the support team was a scam and one of the senior staff straight up removed the comment, without even replying to the person and trying to resolve the situation.
What are your experiences with Ionicware and their websites?
