I saw that this story is now trending on Facebook. Many people are surprised that incest occurs, although I'm not. You see, back when I lived in Oklahoma, there was a large mountain nearby that the locals derisively referred to as "Incest Mountain". I never saw the residents of Incest Mountain, although rumour has it that they looked like this.

Not necessarily. We live in a time where pandering has become commonplace. I'm assuming that since they saw "everyone else getting their 'rights'", they figured that people would be more accepting of their situation and possibly hope that incest becomes legalised.
