How do you transfer over the account safely after the purchase? I bought an account from someone, changed the username, password, phone number, email and they still got the account back from me after a few hours?

No idea, baffled me. I even had two-factor authentication enabled. I never got an email sent to me that anyone was trying to access the account, changed the password or anything. I woke up and the account was no longer mine. They took it back with no traces at all, no emails to me or anything.

If it's linked to their Facebook they can get it back by doing the reset, or they could contact the IG help center with the "hacked report", all they need is the email used to create the account (which could be a different email than the current one they gave you)

you must have taken the original email address it's easy to recover account if you've original email address of the account only just by reporting in hacked accounts.
