I never been a great fond of Tumblr. They are a good blogging platform but I think other open source are taking over.

When Yahoo bought it...
"any sort of ad" - define that
i fail to see how tumblr would operate without "any sort of ad"
isn't the entirety of everything they're doing promoting an "ad" in one way or another. even you don't specifically link a product
would uploading watermarked videos get you banned quickly?

I used to watermark images, accounts were banned within weeks.
da*n i am worried about tumblr. i've always thought it was more lax than the rest but ill bet its been abused which has caused them to tidy up
anyways, i definitely hear of a lot more tumblr blogs being banned. im hoping that it's mostly though egregious use
i can't imagine they really ban solely for following/ unfollowing
i have a tumblr blog that's subsidiary to my twitter. however, ive had them reposting images from my twiter. there are ZERO followers (with over 60 pics) and i can tell that its not hitting any audience at all - meaning that the audience is solely accrued through things like follow/unfollow
what if its not money directly but linking to site that could just be another traffic source?

I'm no tumblr expert, but I've read on here that, that is risky as well.
yea ive read that too. seemingly random bans but i have to imagine tumblr wouldn't be able to function that way.
maybe there's something to do with really highly rated/pulling too much traffic that they don't like in terms of competition
but again, i fail to see how this would be a sustainable model for a business if they're continually banning anybody with pull.
I do still see lots of tumblr's active though
pretty sure they're not doing well either.
that negative stigma surrounding yahoo purchasing them maybe has people wondering about its efficacy

Exactly what I did on my last test. I thought that if it is an automated system which is catching blogs then a link is easy to flag on their system but watermarks wouldn't be detected.
Unfortunately my last 50 accounts were banned within the week as you say.
Though it doesn't necessarily mean it was due to the watermark. Hard to say without splittest.
It really sucks though if they have manual reviewers rather than it being automated.

Tumblr is for short/mid term only, mate. It's basically bankrupt.
So best way - Upload 1000 accounts per day to bot - spam the hell out of it - next day upload the next 1000 accounts ans so on?
