FB have tweaked their algorithm to detect click bait (again)

It seems the bounce rate of the content you post on FB is now a factor in the reach it will have:

"Facebook already made an anti-clickbait algorithm change in 2014, focusing on user behaviour It looked for links that people Liked then clicked, but then immediately bounced back to Facebook and Unliked because the website they arrived at didn’t meet the expectations set by the headline.

In February Facebook started looking more closely at how little time people lingered on clickbait sites, and identified links with lots of clicks but very few subsequent Likes."

So, if you think it's already difficult to spread your stuff all over FB you can expect that to become more so in the future.

this is solved via linking to a website then redirect to sales website.

Not tried but there be a solution if that dont work.

Looks like the title and headlines will need more content .

There might be words that trigger facebook to react to some link/ headings.

FB will follow your redirect and everything else you throw at it unless of course you happen to have a cloaked that isn't an off the shelf job. Cloaking will be the answer to this for the short term until FB catch up with that. If you look back at how Google was gamed in the past and the solutions they introduced then you will be able to get at least 12 months ahead of the game with FB and continue spanking the crap out of them.

As time goes on it will just get harder and harder though in the same way it was with Google. FB will focus on providing the best user experience and delivering quality information to users while continuing the turn the thumb screws on advertisers who will turn to FB ads in their droves. Just like AdWords and Google.

So short url to main website.

I was doing main url www.whatever then redirecting to the sales/ website

Facbook following afflicate links and re directing back to there website.

There upgrading that not just following you but also reporting every domain they follow .

So let say i want to sell a book and i use a short url link, facebook follows me but also follows the link you redirect to your sales page reports it to google and guess what your sales page domain get deleted and your facebook account .

Looks very hard to get any link to work on facebook know , cloning but no one saying yet what best to resolve this problam....

You need to look at this as a tweak to the 'quality of content' within their algorithm. As the article stated, FB are using an automated system that determines the relation between what you post and the content that you link to. This means if you are constantly posting click bait on FB that has nothing to do with the content that you're linking to then people are going to bounce back to FB from the content you sent them to.

To me it looks like the same thing that Google introduced when they decided that your bounce rate was a sign of your sites quality. That is why when your bounce rate goes too high it affects the ranking of your website. When you apply this to FB they will look at the following:

1) What percentage of people who click a link from your FB post but then immediately bounce back to Facebook and Unliked because the website they arrived at didn’t meet the expectations set by the headline.
2) The time between which they clicked the link and the then returned to the FB post
3) Did the person like your post and did they unlike it afterwards.


These 3 things go some way to determine what posts are just click bait which FB want to stamp out.


At the moment if just a few of your posts are classed as click bait by FB the you may not get hit with any kind of penalty but I think that as time goes by then that leeway will become less and less. FB want to improve the quality of the user experience (sounds like Google, right?) and in doing so they will clamp down more and more on the quality of what you post in determining its reach to your fans/friends/group members.

We will be left with no other choice but to cloak posts when it comes to click bait and many off the shelf cloakers may not going to be up for the job which is why it would be a good idea to find a good coder to make you a custom script to cloak your stuff.

Remember, a system can always be gamed but the more it is gamed the harder it becomes and the harder it becomes the less people will openly tell you what they are doing and how they are doing it.

I run a serious gaming news portal. The funny part is how my legit and original content, without clickbait title gets buried in FB group feeds because of this as of recent. I guess it has to do with the bounce rate but it seems to random. Sometimes i receive massive amounts of traffic, sometimes barely any.
