Some noob questions on VPS and Proxies

So I've been lurking on BHW for a bit now and reading up on some things and ready to dive in and start my journey but just want to clarify a few things. What I'm trying to setup is a money site using adsense for revenue with some PBN's driving the rankings and some blog comments, web 2.0's, social signals, and GSA generated links to drive up the PBN's. The plan is to scale to more money sites and monetize in different ways later on in separate niches.

1. When people say you should do things using a VPS do they mean to get dedicated server to host your website or to connect and do all your work on a virtual server somewhere to make it anonymous?

2. Are proxies still needed if you have a VPS to do work on (making backlinks) or are they just if you want to do those from your own PC without a VPS?

3. Can creation/management(adding new content, etc.) of my money sites be done from my own IP or does it need to be on a VPS?

4. Do I use an alias for my money site registration, etc. or can I just use private WhoIs?

No, they mean to run their automated links building tools on VPS. They eat a lot of bandwidth and computer resources, you can't possibly keep them running 24/7 on your PC.

Yes you will definitely need proxies or your VPS ip is gonna get flagged for spam first, then blacklisted. You will need them whether you run the software on your PC or a VPS. These link building tools do a lot of account creation and posting on websites (more than once on the same website), and many don't let you create more than one account and they identify it by ip addresses and cookies. These tools can take care of cookies but ip address? You need to feed them proxies.

Yes , it can be done using your own IP from your own PC. No need for a VPS or proxies here.

You can do both. At registrars where i get free whois protection, i keep my registration private otherwise i just use fake contact records.

But manual link building you won't need a VPS. For a lot of web2.0 or other account creation and posting, just get a few private proxies and download a firefox/chrome plugin called best proxy switcher to make their use in browser easy and hasslefree.

For the account creation and posting you mentioned they track cookies, can I just disable cookies in my browser then or I do I need to delete them for every account creation/posting?

They track both cookies and ip address. After you have changed the ip address, hit Ctrl+Shift+delete and clear the cookies and go ahead with creating/posing at another account.
