A huffington post backlink is very, very valuable. However, I HIGHLY DOUBT you will be able to get a genuine post for $85. Huffingtonpost.com can go for over $800, while huffintonpost.co.uk usually goes for around $450. You are most likely being scammed or your link wont stick.
Just take a look at the metrics. Thats why you want the link in the first place. Its funny because sellers here sell those links for 1k. I wonder whats the difference

Crazedparent.com is the client there, you can tell because all the other links are weak anchors, and nofollowed.
I don't know if it's worth 85, check the linking structure, how many inside pages of huffpo link to that page?

I dun have huffington post, but I manage to get a guest post from engadget, quite disappointed, no traffic from there, article zero share, no obvious serp boost, even it is a do follow link. There might be more newbie fall into this trap like me.

1. If you're not geotargeted for Australia, the link is of minimal value unless you have virtually no other high-authority links and so are trying to build your site authority from scratch. Even then, meh.
2. All HuffPo sites have lots and lots of content. The .au site has 150,000 indexed pages. Your link from a page with few other links and little social sharing isn't worth much by itself.
Odds are, you'd do better putting that money into buying links from a good PBN.

I work with a couple huff po writers and $85 is extremely low. I won't disclose my prices as I don't want to be seen as spam but I haven't seen any legit sellers with lower prices than mine and I'm over $200.
Most writers ask for at least $500. Yes, some ask for less but only if you have a good relationship with them.

I find that the main value is that you have the potential to reach thousands of people with one article. If the article is written in an engaging, thought provoking manner, then there is a good chance it will get some shares / backlinks to it. If your article sucks, then no one is going to see it and the link isn't nearly as valuable.
Vet the quality of the writing that your link is going to be placed in. Does it suck? Then probably not worth the cost.

Not just on huffington posts only but on every blog that is out there, guest posting is very vital. When well done, the gust posts help you drop back links that will help improve the ranking of the website. It also shows that people are engaged in conversations around your blog which is a good thing. So yes, it is worth the $85.

I think only if you can get a real article there with something explaining about your business or informative stuff about your business then it will work for you. I have had domains with links from these so over rated media sites and I even got a link directly to a site from them it dosen't really had an impact on the ranking. It's not like your site will jump 10 or 50 spots just because you get a link that you buy!

I paid about $500 for a link there... the result? Pretty much fuck all lol... as others suggested you are much better off building a small network, that will be far more worthwhile. Not to mention this particular dumb fuck author put in 2 other links to make it look "natural", but even I could have written a better, more engaging article with just my own website as a reference. I am looking into setting up a persona and trying to get into contributor/editorials on high profile sites for this reason.
I suppose one of the good things is that this probably does pass down a good amount of trust to your website, it's good to have them in your overall link profile if it's a long term money site project. But if you're doing it purely for SEO purposes on a site you expect to lose, then its just not worth the cost.

Not sure if a Huff post is worth $85 but the quality of the article isn't worth $5. It's full of poor English and complete crap such as "During the initial period, the infidel has to be given nothing else but his mother’s milk" Your baby is an infidel - just what every mother wants to hear.
