I just saw this recently that now Google is registering domains. They're still in a beta with this, but I would be wary of buying any domains through Google. What's more concerning now, is that since they're technically become a registrar, does that mean that we should fear our PBNs identities becoming exposed? Certainly this is within the realm of the mighty google to do. Oh the way they lure you in is with "private registration" at no cost.. seriously, what's going to be private?

Any thoughts?

If its Google, nothing is private. If its Google, nothing is safe.

I think private means other members of the public such as spammers and such. You have to remember that there is life outside SEO and PBN!

I would never buy a domain or hosting from Google but I'm sure some idiot will think that it will help/hurt their SEO.

Just wait. The gurus will be all over this.

There was a thread/half advertisement here yesterday where a member was under the impression that google's domains ranked much better and got indexed instantly.

The term 'don't shit where you eat' seems to fit into this scenario.

dont even think to try use google service for any related SEO task.

Well said mate, yeah I know PBNs are pretty much just a phase. I can see so many ways Google can get its grubby little fingers on all data it wants. If you have money like water, there is no shortage to what you can do and who you can buy off.

But remember the days of Lycos and Altavista, these were the big dogs of the early internet days and they died out. Only us who remember the early days even still know that they existed.

Google has been a domain registrar for some time now, this is nothing new.
They are marketing it as if its brand new.. maybe they've just never pushed it before? I have never heard of anyone a few years ago buying a domain from Google

Google became a domain registrar 11 years ago and started actually selling domains around 8 years ago, they didn't get serious with it until about 2 years ago.

And you won't hear anyone buying domains from Google because only a fool would buy a domain using Google. :)

Interesting, I never realized google was into this so long ago.

I wonder what they'll be up to within the coming years regarding this.

Using PBN links directly to your money site is always risky.

Chances are high that you will harm your site on the long run.

I see BHW members getting out of google index on daily base @ BHW.

No PBN is "private" forget about this idea :)

Well put Eeljt, I am sure Google wants people to believe that they will be ranked better.

True, I think PBNs are good if not abused, how are some sites like About and others able to generate such mass numbers of traffic without employing these tactics? Its coz they offer value. I think most people who use PBNs, at least the vast majority are just lazy bums who are trying to take a short cut. These are the same people who used to do keyword stuffing in the late 90s

Who's building PBNs? I'm building out money sites that link to each other. No PBNs here ;)
