My not so original idea

I'm thinking of creating websites for local businesses and charging them for hosting and a small fee for design. I saw alpharacks had a really good reseller deal so I will probably use that. I'm going to try increasing profits by telling already existing clients that referrals will give them 10% of their fee.

My only problem is finding my first initial clients, any idea? All help is appreciated, thanks.

Does anyone know you in the space yet, or are you completely new?

i know someone who did a similar type of site. getting started is the problem as nobody wants to be the first.
What he did was to offer local business the first month free, he got a lot of signups and once a few join more follow - a bit like your social media accounts.
He built a website with a portfolio and now has a good business

I'd like to use offline methods to find clients and I'm pretty much new to the market. I have 1 family member that owns a local business but is stopping their service so there's no point in asking them.

This actually is a fairly great idea, 'be honest with you. Free stuff never ceases to lure people in.

it's certainly a way to get started, one month free is something most businesses would jump at sort of test the water approach. They can then try you and your services and build trust, then hit them with upsells
