Do you guys and girls post in forums using the company name or setup a individual profile without any connection to the company?

The site I am looking to promote is long term project, so not sure which would be the best plan of action?

No, but seriously, if you are planning on building a brand for your company name, and are posting relevant information about the business niche you are promoting, do it under the company name. First, though, check out the forum and see what other people are doing. Do this too much and you may be accused of spamming, no matter how quality the information is that you are sharing.

I think you can do a mixture - if you are responding to direct questions about your brand, or about specific services / tasks / queries in your industry you could post as your company - this would not be spammy but rather showing yourself as an authority in your niche.

Whereas if say you are chiming in about how one of your products can be used in a certain situation, it's more promotional and in this case better use a new / unrelated account otherwise it would look obviously promotional.

I don't do forum posting, but I would go with the individual profile.

You just did a forum posting. :D

Really depends on what you are trying to do. If you are building a brand then I would use the brand name. Now if you are going to be posting about several different things on the same account then I would just come up with a name that can be used for anything.

Hi,

Thank you for your replies. I think i will go with both.. Worth a try..

Use the company name if you are going to be promoting them.

I agree with both of these replies. I would create an individual account first and use it to get a feel for the forum before you start posting business stuff.

Another good reason to start off with an individual account is because what if it turns out you don't like or fit in to the forum after being there for awhile? If you have an individual account, you can just ditch the place. But if you had your brand name in there and you stopped posting, it might make it look like you gave up on the forum. Then people may think you will give up on your business projects too.

Also, see if you can change your forum name. Then you could start off as an individual, and if you want to stay, then change your name to your brand name.

make an individual profile and a company profile. make sure you provide relevant and helpful information on forums. this is called fishing.

you can ask a newbie from your newbie account then provide answer from your company account but make sure your company account has been contributing on the forum
