Hi,

I am starting my instagram journey today.
The plan is to get a decent following and then promote accounts via shoutouts for money to hopefully lead to £100 a day. Will try other methods of monetisation but for now stick with that.

I have been in IM since I've been a member when I joined which is 2 years. I made £43 yesterday due to an eBay method I found posting cheap software keys and charging a highly inflated rate, but this wasnt for me as I can't track progress and growth isn't consistent. Althougy that was the ONLY money I've made in two years. I've bought domains, created social media accounts but have never taken action as I dont know how.

So I'm deciding to get an instagram following and monetise shoutouts hopefully doing a few a day to get up to that mark.

Stats so far:

Following 1000 (temp block for following a lot, wears off in an hour)
As of now, 127 followers. So just over a 10% conversion so far.
I may have to start my own shoutout account to promote as I dont have the capital to buy them.

Please stay with me for the journey and watch as a noob learns the ways of IM on his first effort. Any advice and appreciation is greatly appreciated and I am happy to answer any questions.

My reason for this journey:

I am a student in the united kingdom, I go to quite a low ranking university with very high costs of £9k a year plus accommodation and food costs which totals at around £18k per year. I will be in debt by the time I leave university, but hopefully I can make enough money online and continue to monetise online to make a career for myself to then not have to work to pay off debts.

Target 1: 1000 followers by 24th July 2016.

  • Update:
Within 20 minutes I have gained another 32 followers. It's definitely coming fast and Im now sitting at 159 after two hours work. Should I definitely monetise with shoutouts or do you think something else?

Do you mean selling shoutouts? If so, no one is going to buy shoutouts from a 150 followers account.
Keep growin it buddy until minimum 5k and then maybe you could try and sell a few shoutouts here and there.

Hi Zacc, thanks for your response. Correct, I would have no chance in hell selling shoutouts with that follower amount. I am hoping once I get to the correct amount of followers I can start selling them more and more as the follower count grows, eventually selling 3 or 4 a day once I hit ten. Maybe 1 - 2 once the follower count hits 5000. I am sitting at 209 followers with 1000 following and am just letting people follow me back for now whilst still posting.

Stats:
Followers: 209
Following: 1000
Time Taken: 2.5 hours.

Yeah, I mean selling them when I get more of a following. I'm sitting at 240 now. Is there any way to get a bigger increase without having capital? I need to get to 5k pretty fast and have no other ideas than following people then unfollowing.

Be careful when you follow, I think 1000 is too much at once for a fresh account.

Yeah, they've blocked me for following for the rest of the day. Which, to be fair, is good, so I can see what conversion rate of followers I get.

Update:
Sitting on 271 followers now. Just got a subscription for MassPlanner as I was $4 off FollowLiker for one account. (Sucks, I know). Gonna figure out how to use that to gain more followers and automate it to get higher follows.

Forget 5k your wanting to hit at least 10k in a desirable niche before anyone even comes close enough to your for a smell. Following too many will see a removal of your account before you even hit 5k. Good luck but your asking a lot from just over a months working growing an account. Ive seen people grow big accounts in a month or two but they know what they are doing and allready have solid accounts to advertise on. If your new it's a lot harder to grow an account unless your paying for shout outs.

Oh btw i have accounts that are botted and have followed 1000's a week and only got minimal follow backs in return. Some "niches" are a lot harder to break into than you think. Content is key. The ones you spend more time on and add a personal touch tend to get more followers. When it comes to a post going viral though... you can't predict that. I posted one clip 1 week it got 300 views, deleted it and posted it again 2 weeks later 60k views in 2 days. I got around 500 followers from that post and around 350 comments. So even if a post gets a lot of attention in a short amount of time it does not guarantee a huge following.

Good luck and keep at it. be persistent.

You need to be careful with bot settings too, if you search the forum you will find the best settings.

I agree with everything you're saying yeah. I initially wanted to start it doing shoutouts as my instagram is literally just a food niche. Not necessarily any specific food but leaning on desserts and junk foody kind of niches. I think I might have mischosen, but it is for my first ever attempt at this. I also am curious if there is any sort of CPA possibility in this sort of niche, nevertheless once I grow a following larger than the one I have now I will try and change the niche and take the follower hit in return.

Do you recommend anywhere to find bot settings for instagram? I've never used a bot before, though I am liking the work it does for you haha. I pretty much only have to worry about posting content at this minute in time.

I'd be happy to show my account as it's fairly saturated niche to see if you guys could add anything. But I don't know whether you'd advise against that.

Hit 300 followers. the target for today was 100, so I'm happy. Got a 30% conversion rate on follows which is fantastic really.

So until then I guess it's just rinsing and repeating. Might open another instagram account under a different niche. Maybe perhaps an adult niche, but 4KStogram doesn't let you download NSFW photos and my paypal balance doesn't clear until 10th August (new account) so I don't even know if that's what's blocking the NSFW.

Also, each post gets like 20 likes now too. so

Taking action is the most important part. You need to try and fail, and fail again, because success will come only through failure, and you can never fail if you don't try it and don't take the action. Good luck :)

Oh, I agree, friend! The biggest concern for me now is just to keep the account growing and growing. With it being a food niche and literally just posting photos of food I'm concerned about how I will monetise it, you know?

Just make sure to be consistent with it and you will grow. Find good hashtags. I also think that getting some fake followers from addmefast, likenation etc. is quite beneficial for jump start. Once you become big enough, there are many ways to monetise it (website, affiliate links, shoutouts etc.) Btw love the picture and Nigel :)

Thank you for posting, this is exactly what I have been considering doing after reading and reading through forums. It seems like everyone is monetizing through Instagram accounts and seems pretty promising. I will keep following

I may use likenation and addmefast, but aren't they all fake, poor engaging likes? I was considering purchasing a few thousand for a small fee but also didn't know whether they would be poor likes.

Haha, thanks!

Hey buddy. I have a website about a niche I work on. How can instagram be of an added value to me? I mean could it make me money? My website is not accepted by google adsense yet. Let me know how you managed to get such a good amount of followers in a short period of time.
