Hacked site- is it now worthless?

I got a google manual action for one of my sites being hacked. I only just realised that its not a site-wide action:

I have deleted the site, WordPress and everything i can in cpanel. checked the offending link google gave is gone.

this domain had some decent metrics on it before this: DA 26, PA38 20rd so I don't want to delete it, I was going to move one of my other sites to it.

I have asked google to reconsider but it will take weeks apparently.

question is: should I delete the domain and be shot of it or ignore the manual action and hope it gets cleared?

I'd ditch the site and go for a new one. But thats just my 2 cents.

I bought a couple from a seller on here offering 'hackproof sites' and within a month had been hacked , I just binned these as he was unresponsive.

What about doing a redirect and use the authority ?

My site got hacked recently but luckily I found out before google did. I deleted the WP (except wp-content and config.php) and re-installed it through FTP. Then I re-installed the plugins (first - iThemes Security plugin) and the problem is gone.

I know that this is a belated advice but you should have done the same and should have asked google to re-consider.

If you've got a backup of your content and images, I would advise you to re-create the site.

Wow! So much bad advice in the thread. I can understand @MisterF binning a new site he purchased because the seller was being an idiot.

But others, recommending dumping the site?

Why not reclaim the site, clean the hack and requesting a reconsideration?

I've cleaned up a few hacked sites in the past for clients who hired me to work on their websites, and both of the sites came back better than before as far as rankings and web traffic and concerned. In fact, one of those sites had been hacked for at least a year and apparently used as some kind of gambling site link farm before I worked on it.

So yes, they can be recovered.

When a website is hacked, then you leave it in that same condition, then there is no value that it will add to your life. Hackers always steal some information form you or just want to frustrate you for nothing. You therefore need to be careful and restore the website once it has been hacked. It is always a hard task but for you to get back on track, the task is a must do.
