fiverr sellers call me "sir"

We use it as a sign of respect. Moreover in some asian country, if you are older we would call you uncle or grandfather even if you're not blood related at all. We usually use sir if we could not confirm your age or dealing with vip or client.

In some European countries you can encounter the same stuff. Younger people calling older individuals aunt/uncle, grandma/grandpa.

About the Sir think, I can understand why they do it, and there is nothing bad about it.

I insist that they call me Sire. If they don't, I yell for my guards to remove their heads.

People from India mostly :D They don't have to be so polite IMO.

yeah this is a southeastern/eastern asia thing, you'll get used to it esp when you are active on freelancing sites.

I have to say I was shocked at first, but I appreciate the sign of respect from sellers, goes a long way to show that they care.

Thank you sir for your thread.

In our country If you go to any Bank or Mobile company customer center or any customer related place like shop etc they will call you Sir. they will never look about your cloth or how much money you have. Its Respect for their customer.

Customer or Guest we think God sending them to us and If we able to help them we feel proud.

It's a cultural sign of respect.

It can feel uncomfortable a tad as I don't go by Sir, Mr., or anything like that either but if you understand that is how they know to show respect you get used to it.
In India, every regional language you will find 2 words for "you" one with respect and other generalized
e.g - "Aap" in Hindi is used to give respect and "Tu" used commonly both translates to "You" in English
In India we use "Sir" to show respect "How are you Sir"
Interesting, I never knew that. Well, you learn something new every day!

Hi my lord, if you accept my service i'll happily give my head to my precious lord.

"" Hey you Mofo, How do you find my services ? You d**khead, come back for more business. ""
I wish I could say something like this to my clients. :P
