I don't think this game will be as big as it currently is for too long unless Niantic delivers on updates but currently it is a free for all for IM. There is definitely money to made for anyone out there who tries.

I doubt this game will die anytime soon. Pokemon is pretty huge world wide, people will play this game for a very long time.

It'll be around for a while, I've already had tons of new signups on webhosting.ninja for pokemon sites. They are the experienced ones getting a jump on this and figuring out ways to monetize.
