how to analyze competition??

hello everyone!
i am planning to start either a micro niche or a authority website.
the problem is that i don't know how to analyze competition to see if my niche is hard to rank for or not?
I bought a gig while ago on fiverr for a micro niche, after the seller gave me the niche, i put it on long tail pro platinum and i saw that the avg keyword competitiveness is 54, i think that is alot, don't you?
so, if anyone can guide me here i'm grateful

Simply see who is ranking for the keywords.

Filter down the top say five sites that are ranking at the moment. Look at their back links and filter the links into sections like

Links that are quick to replicate like directories etc - free for anyone to join

Blog posts aka guest posts - replicate what you can

See what Web 2.0 site they use and replicate

Then move into their social channels - Twitter is best as its easy to download their followers, see who has a website and yet again, replicate

Once you've done that it's the case of doing what their doing, but better and scale it

For the moment don't really worry about PA or DA - clone from your competitors what you can, do it by hand and when you feel you're getting at least some progress, scale and maybe use tools etc

Use your judgement before stats like PA or DA - if a site looks shit and spammed to death, leave it

Yea manual is crap but if you don't understand what works and doesn't, tools just make things crap on scale
