Hello BHW,

I just made 10 private blogs for myself. I linked my money site's homepage from 6 of my private blogs, everything worked great and my site went from nowhere to 15-17th spot in Google for highly competitive keywords, but later I decided to change the backlinks from homepage to a sub-page(i.e. product page). I then change the backlink from all 6 private blogs for my site's product page and also linked my money site's product page from rest of 4 private blogs, but the problem is that Google is still ranking my site's homepage in SERPs instead of the product page. Can any one tell me how much time Google can take to rank the right page instead of the homepage??

The worst case I ever measured was 22 days. That was when I changed the content the afternoon after it was updated in the google cache. Everything google does in its massive graph algorithms is calculated against what is in the google cache. So once you see your changed content in the cache you know google is then working with the right data. Usually I see changes reflected in 4 to 10 days, but it all depends where in Google's cycle your changes fall and any blocking issues Google might have in the rolling updates.

In general, be careful with changing existing links (new anchor, different subpage, etc.) With 6 links, no headaches, but a larger number of existing links changed in a very short time frame is a pretty clear signal that you are in control of these links and they aren't natural.
