My SERP rank is about 30-40 for one of my main keywords right after being indexed. Is this a good sign that the competition is low and it should be fairly easy to get to top 10 soon without spending thousands on SEO?

Its depend on your keyword competition.

Yeah, of course. But the question is if my initial rank tells something about the competition. Some of my other keywords are not even in the top 300 yet, while my main keyword is 30-40.

If the keyword is low competition then you will get the expected result as soon. If you build some quality backlinks from the high-quality sites then your keyword will be the place of top 10 as easier. Also posts some lengthy and quality contents.

Your keyword is a competitive word it is possible.
Likewise, update your site contents and your pages.
Get good backlinks with good metrics and check your traffic by OBLs.

So this is possible. If your On page is Strong.

I think you have the low competitive keyword, just keep tracking your site.
Just focus on getting more quality back links and do some on-page techniques which will helps you to rank higher and higher.
As others said create a high quality content with updates.

You should be excited!!

But wait to see if it will last there that long. Then add more quality posts and try building Authority links. Goodluck

Ranking is not so far for your low competition keyword. For getting instant result to get rank in SERP, should use SEO techniques for your site. Another way to get traffic in your site by keep posting your link in Social Media and make bookmark too.

Keep research on keywords of your competition sites. Do the ON-page SEO to write quality content and build more backlinks.

Best wishes.:)

I just wonder if half of these comments are spam or users just trying to get post count but in any sense 90% of comments i read on this thread are useless..

To answer the OPs question yes i think thats very good sign if i assume your website is brand new one ( you said other keywords are not even in top 300 )...I would just let it settle in google serps before building links to that page...

Thanks man. I already started building a few links. Not that many though so I hope it's alright. Thanks everyone else too but I think most of you missed the point of my question.

Can you tell me your keyword please.

Not sure if joking or downs syndrome
