It still works for SEO ranking, and it's one of the important factors in SEO.

For me, it's still a ranking factor. EMD are still relevant to search queries, as long as they are supported by relevant content.

I would say it will because people click base on domain names. The CTR of exact match domain name is very high.

IMO don't worry about having a EMD. Try and think of something catchy, something that will stick with visitors once they leave your site .

EMD's nowadays don't increase rankings directly, they are simply a contributing factor.

On smaller search engines ranking may be easier, but once you push links to any domain style directories see it.

Creating brand names look more appealing in the long run, especially for authority sites... So look into building one if having small amounts of projects.

This is one debate that has been going on for awhile on some forums I came across. I too think EMD's still play a vital role in ranking a website on search engines. I don't know why some people lately have been preaching against EMD's. A lot of EMD .com's are sold every now and then for hundreds of thousands dollars. I believe they worth such amount because they are EMD's and those companies/startups pay huge amounts for them because names like that are friends of search engines.

exact domain works because google see the searched keyword as a navigational search query. people type in yahoo.com into google search to go to yahoo.com and your domain and search query gets treated the same way.
