Membership site with copyrighted content

So I am thinking about setting up a membership site with copyrighted content.

My idea is to allow users to upload to the site so the website would fall under the DMCA safe harbour.

I would then remove content whenever requested to.

I would be using paypal and wordpress for this. Has anyone done anything like this? What are your thoughts on it? Bad idea?

I think taste of membership site is that CONTENT MUST BE 100% UNIQUE! Thats why people pay for being member! You should own community

The content would be unique. Sort of.

For example say I created a website where I charge 1$ per month or something like this for PHP script downloads. But I also allowed users to upload scritps to the site as well. This way I could take scripts from popular sites like codecanyon etc and put them on my site. And when I get a DMCA complaint I would take down.

This is just an example, this isn't my plan.

I'm just wondering how dangerous this is. If others are uploading it falls under DMCA right so it's perfectly legal ?

What do you mean? Lol i'm confused. You're reporting me? Or people will report it?

And that's my point. Why would it matter if people report it.

Hahh Not you... I mean the website which uses the copyrighted content. If content owners know that somebody is using their content without their permission they will report it (not me ) .

At least I have no experience in membership sites... but give it a try and see what happens

Could work, but I doubt DMCA would be a safe harbour once you charge money. Would be safer if you would offer the site for free.

I know a few websites that exist from many years and have paid membership, but the content is mostly stolen from amateur producers that are uploading it for free on big tube sites like xhamster. You can look at iloveinterracial for example, they have paid membership, the content is mostly taken from other free tubes, and they seem to not have any troubles with DMCA rights beacuse they still exist.

I've done something like this long time ago, I charged people to watch videos on my site. I didn't upload them nor having them. Though I just embedded them from other sites it's still considered as illegal. Therefore, I hosted my site on offshore hosting who doesn't give a f**k about DMCA complain. And that's your answer.

it's not good idea. i think you need a unique content like a video, script etc. if you not have the skills to make it. hire a freelancer

I run 2 membership websites but they're completely free to register and is no charge for anything. Users can upload their own stuff so I wonder how safe that is with me being the website owner.
