I am getting links by emailing people that are listed in large well respected white hat professional directories.

If i get a large amount of these links will this look like my site is in a 3 way link wheel with the large professional website?

No. They are just linking to my site. But they all have links from the directory i found them in. Which may look like a 3 way link exchange.
