I've been trying to do an E-Commerce website on a niche.
Question is: is there a difference between using my main keyword on the product-category of the SHOP, and using my main keyword on the POST or article category?

Should I actually have a title on the product category with the main KW? And do I have to put articles and content on that category? If yes, how do you put articles on the SHOP?

Test the keywords then decide. Search for the search term then see what kinds of pages rank well for it. If google prefers a blog post for a certain keyword then use it on a blog post. If google prefers a product page or a category page then use the best page type for the keyword. It changes and sometimes both are fine... just check the top ten results and tally up each type of page.

Well, I have a lot of longtails that I gathered. But essentially yes, I have only about 800 items. I am just not sure where to place my 2000/1000 word articles in the website siloing. Also don't know if I should name the product category after my main keyword makes any difference. Right now, I named it after the subcategories, but I am using the main keyword on product descriptions.

E-store isn't a page type... it is a site type. Category Page, Home Page, Product Page, About Page, Blog Post, etc are page types.

If I found a 2000 word article on a category page in an online store I would likely be too confused or scared to shop there. I think it would be hard to pull that off and not hurt conversion.

Putting your target search term as the category name can help a lot, but it depends how much competition the search term has and how much authority your page and site have compared to the competition... For example: On my e-commerce site I can't rank #1 for Women's Pants as my category but I can rank #1 for Women's Capri Pants. The exact match category name is VERY powerful for ranking category pages right now. But you do have to find the turning point in how much longtail you need to utilize for your pages to be competitive and rank well.

Put content on category pages. You can have 100-300 words above the products without being too obstructive.

You can put 1000's of words under the product grid/list

You can also hide words in javascript tabs for example. So you could have a standard looking category page with just products, with 2 tabs at the top, one that says products and one that says information for example.

How's your competition doing it?

Look for their mistakes and capitalise on them. Also if you stick 2k words on a category page you're just not going to get any sales. stick it at the bottom, a well linked info page or a blog.
