Snitches get Stitches Bro
Cash is king as long as they don't do the same. Actions trigger reactions, the next thing that happens is them thinking "Hey, if we are penalized, they must penalize our competitors, too" and this could easily start a spiral of spam reports, more spam reports, even more spam reports and at the end, noone wins...because no matter how high quality your PBN is, it may not trigger a manual review by itself, but it won't ever pass one initiated via a well researched spam report.Ok, I get it. I'm gonna be hated on for this. That's all good. Cash is king.
Yeah, I can forsee this happening. Or at least for the serious business competitor they would go away and do their homework and come back really strong because I know they have a tonne of money, so I think it's better just to outrank them because it won't tip off the alarm bells that they need to try harder.Cash is king as long as they don't do the same. Yeah, I really do think they are fairly weak. I guess it's better to try outrank them with a better PBN coz other way it's actually hard to know if mine is actually stronger or if I'm just winning through fighting dirty. So, that's a +1 for don't do it. Thanks for your input.By all accounts both competitors are pretty weak and you know their respective strategies inside out.
So why the need to report them? Just put up your own links/pbn or whatever and outrank them.
Karma will get you otherwise.
That's a fair point. Don't shit where you eat. There are some areas outside of IM where I got the top of the game and it was so painfully obvious who was and wasn't going to make it just by what they said or the way they thought about things. Within 2 minutes of meeting them I could tell how their next 3 years is gonna turn out. So, I take your evaluation pretty seriously. If it works only a lower tier but doesn't cut it in the big league then it's not a strategy I should give any time to. Thanks.Don't be a scared little b1tch. You already have a mindset that steams from weakness, it will be hard for you to make any money doing SEO if you have this mindset.
Talking about pathetic 300-400$ / month, competitors might not know what's up, you would probably get away with it, when you move to the big league and you come up with BS like this, competitors will know what's up, believe me... They will backstab you, and no one will make money...
That's why on a higher up levels there's a "secret code of honor" among SEO'rs. Because you are standing on the same branch, you don't want to saw that branch.
That your old site got re-used I don't so much mind, but them pretending to be you I have definitely have a big problem with and I can see why you were upset. Im working on a PBN site now for another project that I'm finishing first and I used Backlinkos moving man method, so I have a site of some guy who runs a shop and he just changed his domain name. I went out of my way to set the PBN site up as an unofficial fan page. Im going for quality such that when he sees it he will be cool with it and let it be.Dude some years ago I had built a nice site that ranked well without doing any blackhat link building. I had a lot of users coming to that site. Then about one year ago for various and personal reason I leaved the site and let it expire.
Now, few months ago I sadly seen someone bought my old domain and started to publish same old content of mine.
And he published a page where he said he was me.
It doesn't really matter what he did with the domain, but the fact he was trying to be me made me sick. So, first time in my life I tried to do negative seo to him.
Result? It was useless, and just after 15-20 days I did that, my actual money site get spammed too (and I don't really think it was him for various reason). First time a domain of mine get spammed in several years.
So yeah, karma exist and I'll never do negative seo again. Ever. And you shouldn't do it too.
10/10 the most valuable response. Reason I asked is to get the wisdom of the community on whether it's a strategy worth pursuing. The overwhelming response was no, so that definitely has steered me away from that to just outrank with a more solid PBN, but this post was just inspirational. It's not a dick move. It's a you don't what you're doing move. Everytime I see this question I IMMEDIATELY know the person asking doesn't know shit about SEO or NSEO.
I'll give you an example. I'm in a couple highly competitive local niches and a few other medium competition niches. When I say "highly competitive" I mean we're in one of the top 500 most competitive local niches that exist. With some terms as high as $140 CPC.
In our oldest & and most competitive industry there was a criminal dominating #1 for hundreds of keywords. His business was doing a couple million a year (we found through his tax evasion arrest records). And he could have easily done 4-5 million if he ran a legit operation.
We had every reason & justification to attack this fucker:
1) Our business is 100xs better in every respect.
2) Customers love us cause we don't scam them.
3) Everyone knows or at least suspects we're the "good guys" in our industry.
4) This guy is gonna keep scamming people which makes the whole industry look bad.
5) With everything he's been convicted of, tax evasion, fraud, laundering... he was able to maintain his business license under his wifes name.
It was becoming a huge problem as people would call us after working with him. Or call after talking to him. And we were wasting too much time emailing, talking and educating people about his arrest record and how his smart little scam works.
Long story short I launched a huge attack. I tried everything you can think over the course of nearly 1 1/2 years. Started with GSA and tried to do a clean "homograph" campaign. Homographs are words like "wind" or "bass". Words spelled the same that have 2 completely different meanings. This industry is a homograph. So by using long tails I tried to resteer his anchor text to the wrong version of his main keyword. Like changing "bass fishing" site to "bass sound".
I did that about 4-5 months with GSA. Saw no effect all. So I decided "I need better links". I tried the same thing with more juicy paid links. Waited 2-3 months and now he seemed to be ranking better. So then I got really pissed and used a churn / burn strategy that worked to both rank and quickly destroy a site I use to have. I had spammed the shit out of the site using the right anchor text in GSA, mixed in some strong PBN links, it hit page 1 for 2 months, after that got assfucked by G and was never seen again.
So I used that same technique. Again, I'm very patient and nothing fucking happens. So then I took some advice I got here. I quit with the spam. Bought some SAPE links, waited a few months then reported him. Waited, NOTHING HAPPENED. So I report him a 2nd time then made a thread on G forums where I submitted the contact info of another competitor. Like "This guys an ex-convict and criminal, he's scamming people, I get calls every day from people he's ripping off. Here's proof ______. And more proof ____. He's using spam and PBNs to rank you can see right here. I've reported him blah blah here's my number and email someone please help!" I got a bunch of responses and really thought something would happen.
A few more months pass and once again not a single fucking thing changed.
Looking back, I wasted all that fuckn time and effort because ***I*** was too lazy to build my own PBN and outrank this POS properly. Within 4 months I started knocking his keywords down from 1 after 6 months we had many of the #1 spots. And ironically when competitors saw US outrank him they turned up their SEO and also started pushing him down. So now he's at 4, 5, 6 for like 75% of his keywords.
Now this is just 1 case study. But I can't count how many marketers I've seen over the years talking shit. About how anythings fair game, money is god... you're all a buncha badass mfkrs. So bad you're not gonna build links and rank. Instead, you're just gonna report your competitor, hit the top and be GOD in your industry.
Problem is, out of all these fuckers you won't find 1 marketer or case study on BHW, WF, DP, WiFi, not 1 fucking article with any type of proof, NOT EVEN FAKE PROOF showing how they neg-SEOd someone successfully. You'll occasionally read how someone was the victim of "neg-SEO". And you might see the screenshots with red arrows. But that's all you'll see. You won't see their sites or links that show most these dumb fucks neg-SEO'd themselves. And even then it wasn't the "real" NSEO that's backed by mostly myths and misinformation. It was just ol fashioned shit SEO on a site they had full control to fuck over.
So GO REPORT your competitor. Report him 20 times if it makes you feel better. Whatever you do, don't learn real SEO, don't build any type of bullet proof PBN, don't build any links everyone knows that shit just saves time and makes money but you're above all that that bro. I believe in you like Nike said JUST DO IT.

HahaSee nothing but a champion.
you can report but google will do nothing. if anyone can slap competitor with a report then there would be no affilate sites in serp, and the only thing that google would do is handle with thouthands of reports each hour
