So.. I just infected myself with Hookworms

I have some serious stomach issues, but doctors never figured it out. Got tested for Crohns disease among other things and doctors are clueless. I basically just live with it every day. I don't think I'll infect myself with worms until I get a definite diagnoses, but Interesting read.
6 years ago I had gastrointestinal issues and all of the doctors I went to initially thought it was Chron's Disease. However, after a few months, they finally figured out that I was just lactose intolerant. At the time, I ate a lot of cheese, so the symptoms were near-identical to Chron's Disease.

My issue actually began about 6 years ago after food poisoning (Thanks Dennys) My stomach never really recovered, and I went from 150 lbs to 114 lbs in a matter of months. Wasn't until about a year ago, I finally got my weight back up and more. Certain foods are definitely triggers, and I discover new triggers everyday (FML)

It's a sad life when you have to discover where the nearest bathroom is whenever you go somewhere.

I've never experimented giving up dairy, just because I love Milk so god-dang much, but it's something I think I should try. Thanks.

Glad you're sticking with it and not giving in to people who are trying to bring you down. Being at full health is a #1 priority in life.

No, you apply them on a plaster to your skin where they will then burrow into the body. Go from your lungs down to the intestine where they then colonize

I love Futurama

mate hookworms were killing allied POW's on the Burma Railway........just saying

just looked into it. Mexico does the treatment while the USDA does not approve it, (fills me with hope)

the key benchmark study was of a whopping 7 people with crohn's. 4 of which seemed to improve, and 2 worsened considerably.

and the side effects were wonderful also.

the key advice is don't buy it off the web and administer it at home. it must be done under medical supervision because of anemia, memory loss etc etc.

not trying to piss on your bonfire mate but im not sure what good its going to do. there are many ways to suppress the immune system that doesn't involve a risk of death.

I'm not sure how I feel about this thread.

On the one hand, I agree with everyone else who says this is stupid.

On the other, it's not my body or my decision.

I do find it interesting that Z's experience with lactose intolerance was mistaken for Chron's disease. Doctors don't know everything, and everyone's body is different. Just because most people react to something the same way doesn't mean you can apply that same treatment or diagnosis to everyone.

So if OP wants to give himself hookworms, good on him. If something bad happens to him, he can't blame anyone but himself.

chrohn's disease is a made up disease produced by feeble minded psyches

Do you have evidence to back this up? Or are you just being an asshole because you want attention?

I hope this works for you mate. Never heard of this, but I've seen some folks in my family try some really bad therapies in the past, so take care and do ask a second doctor about it.

I'm a bit surprised that your doc would just stay quiet about this. Traditional medicine is usually critical of these alternative cures.

im afraid not mate, it is an actual disease. the intestine gets inflamed by certain foods, which causes the nervous system to attack the intestine slowly eating away at the lining and eventually perforating it. after some time its not just those certain foods that causes the attacks but all foods. the only known cure is a full removal of the intestine.

I think you might be getting mixed up between IBD and IBS. there is no medical evidence to support IBS, which doesn't mean it doesn't exist, it just means that medicine does not understand it. IBD like crohn's is pretty serious.

Sounds really freaky. BUT if it works it works. Good luck.

Yeah right Have you must taken advice from your doctor before doing this?

any update? did the worms do what they were supposed to do?

Here's my post from yesterday

Coming to almost a month since I infected myself. Have seen small improvements. Won't be until around the 3 month mark when they should really start to kick in.
It could be that my first dose wasn't enough. I took 25, some can have 5, 10 and others in the hundreds. Just have to play it by ear and see how I get on.

Thanks for asking
