SEO Canonical Tag Not Working - Duplicate Content Issue

Hi Friends,

Kindly give any other Valid SEO suggestion for avoiding duplicate content issue.
Already Implemented SEO canonical tag for Sify Astrology site, but all the URLs indexed by Google.

Your SERP URL is for hostname A. Your canonical is for hostname B. Your navigation links all use hostname A. They are two duplicate sites... if you want google to believe it is a site move you are sending the wrong signal... It looks like you are just trying to double your listings in the SERPs while you are running both copies with no redirects.

Canonical is only a suggestion... when Google sees identical content for multiple SERP results the higher PR copy wins... in this case that is sify.com with more domain authority. You would have to redirect one copy to the other to see SEO value otherwise the higher PR pages win. Or put unique content on each site. That is the choice.

I like this guy a lot and I can say basically everything he just said is pretty on mark. Though I guess looking at this post now I can see why other newbies may have trouble with such a thing. But duplicate content should be avoided for sure, only really using it when you're talking about a blog 2.0 network for instance.
