AOL- Comment Spam - Worth the trouble?

Was wondering how this converts for an obvious CPA offer of Colon Cleanse?
In the first Lindsey Lohan article the WH posters attack the comment spammer..... I was wondering if it's worth the trouble to promote in that fashion.

Personally I think I'd try a more subtle approach and motivate them to click
without the repeated announcements of COLON CLEANSE - COLON CLEANSE - COLON CLEANSE !

Anyway I posted the url to articles displaying the comment spam under Lindsey Lohan and Emma Watson, hopefully you might see it before AOL deletes it, if they ever do. Might be interesting to see how long those spam comments last and stay online.

Is anyone else sick of seeing this bozo posting about colon cleanse on EVERY subject EVERYWHERE - stop posting SandraJ, we're not stupid enough to fall for your stupid tinyURL, so get the hell off topics that you are not even interested in and find a blog about the colon!

not sure about that comment spam, but i used to use aol to make a good bit of money. if you program, or have someone that could program some things, PM me. im sure it still works. i used it on and off for a few years.

Comment spam rarely converts. I mean logically whos going to need a colon cleanse while reading up on linsey lohan lol. Try targeting your campaigns and see how much better it converts.

I think it would be more beneficial for backlinks, rather than direct traffic as mentioned above. But even with backlinks, you would want to target your comments a bit better than on an article like that.

Also, I would be more worried about what your CPA company might think of this type of promotion. That is, unless you have the spoofing of your refererr down pat. AOL is pretty big, and although there is plenty of money to be made with/on it, their complaints weigh-in pretty heavy. I am speaking from past experience.
