Forcing Google to Recrawl and forget old websites' info

Hi,

I have recently changed the name of my business and I want google to completely erase the old business name for any search results.

Currently, when you enter the old name of my business, you can find websites straight away which display the new business name incl. 3rd party websites which include local businesses and their names.

I am a total rookie in SEO and all I want to do is google to make it impossible to find out the new business name after searching for the old business name. Will a Google recrawl do this for me?

It's extremely difficult to remove information about yourself from search engines.

You'd have to remove it by logging into the platforms and deauthorizing the accounts, if unable to login it may be impossible unless you content the sites and get it through.

If you do 301 redirect from your old business domain name to the new one (assuming the domains are different), then people will see your new business name when they search for your old business name after Google picks up the 301 change.

It's the 3rd party websites, which store local business names and addresses which is the problem. Once Google recrawls those, will people still be able to find my new business name after searching after the old one?

First, Rewrite the old URL. Once the URL is rewritten, you want to make sure that the old URL 301 redirects to the new. This tells the search engines that any link juice the old URL had should now be given to the new URL. And that you want them to index the new page and drop the old one from their index.

Difficult but try the 301 route and see if it helps.

Isn't there a way of contacting google and describing the situation, or is everything reviewed and done by robots?

I don't understand how can I do the 301 route on websites, which aren't mine. It's the 3rd party websites which have my old business name.

You can try to contact G, and if they response please let us know how you do it...))
Joke's a part the only way is to contact the website owner and ask them to change the name... no one can control a 3rd party website content beside the website owner/admin. G show in it search the content/description of the 3rd website.

If you many site try to collect all the contact emails and use a mailing sending tool to contact all of them.

Are you talking about jst your website or those 3rd party website as well?

If just your own... change it and give it sometime it should happen naturally.

If 3rd party as well... you're gonna need a reputation management expert.

3rd party too I'm talking about. Those 3rd party websites have already updated my business name, however after searching the old business name in google, it still brings up those 3rd party websites. When you click into them, the name is the new one. Does this mean google should drop & get rid of them naturally too?

If your information has been updated on 3rd party websites and if google is pulling old information from those websites, then just allow more time for them to re-crawl and change the information.
