We all know that you need a certain # of likes to be "featured". What i want to know is, does a like from a person with 100 followers equal a like from a person with a million?

If you have a million followers and you like some photo, does that photo have a higher chance to appear in your followers feed's ?

It does really matter, if one person has 100 follower his/her like really matter less than who has a millions of follower. But sometimes number is not the fact, it's quality that matter most.

yes but is there any kind of 'hard' confirmation of this? What i mean is, it's easy to say 'quality matter most', anyone can say it but what does it MEAN?

Will explain it real fast.
Imagine I like your picture: I have 500 followers. Some of my followers will check "following activity" and will see what I've liked. Some may be interested to check that ( yours ) picture and like it, comment and/or follow you.
Now imagine if someone with 10m likes your picture.

hope it helps.

No, every account comes with the same worth, but if someone with million followers like your photos you will get 1000+ likes from their followers too.

I don't think it would. Sometimes I use like4like app to get a ton of likes on my posts and they usually become one of the nine trending posts of my target hashtags alongside other posts with similar amount of likes so even though their likes are genuine while mine are from like4like app we still rank about the same in the hashtags. So no there is no difference in the value of a like.

So much ignorance in this thread, the person who likes your posts is CRUCIAL.

The bigger the account that likes, the bigger exposure it will get (explore tab and following tab). This is the sole reason like networks exist.

That is what i assumed.

However, from what i understand, getting ranked via 'hashtags' is more of a numerical game?

Yes but likes from bigger accounts get you additional exposure.

ImGrej is so correct. Another way to look at it, is like this. Let's assume you get the freebies or paid likes. Usually the accounts that like your photo are fake or low quality/follower accounts. The only thing that you really get is a "like number" on your photo, and maybe getting to the explorer page.

Now, on the other hand, if a real, large follower, account likes your photo; you get their real followers to look and maybe like your photo. It's like word of mouth. Can't pay for it, but it's worth so much more than a paid advertisement.

Or look at it this way: Buy fake followers. In 1 month, 1 year from now, those fakes do you no good. No one real will follow you for your follower count, if your photos are not HQ and non-spammy.

Just my 2 cents.

I understand your first point. But regarding your second: all else being equal (high quality, non spammy photos), the account with the higher followers # (even if they are 100% fake) will still get more "real natural" followers than one with low count. true?

True. But, if anyone is trying to monetize, fake followers and fake likes mean nothing.

It all depends on what someone is trying to achieve. If just numbers for numbers, then fake all the way is the fastest. If, they are trying to make a business, monetize or sell the account later, real followers is where the money is at.

No one can argue with that. I was simply pointing out that i believe fake followers can simply be used as a 'social proof' type of psychological trigger to make real people more likely to follow. You can always remove fake followers later.
