Did Google have an update today? Saw massive ranking drop

I don't know what's wrong. Maybe I haven't build new links for more than a month. Just saw a massive drop in ranking. But is it possible for such a drop? Or it might be some kind of penalty? This is my first time having such experience.

Check the search console/WMT for a manual action, the drops kinds look like one.

OP: You need to check your links in Majestic/SemRush/Moz and make sure you haven't been getting blasted with spam from a competitor. Negative attacks are typically unsuccessful, but if your site is of a low enough authority it could be vulnerable.

Yep, but for a negative SEO attack to be successful we'd need a Penguin update...there hasn't been one for a long time and nothing hints to one rolling at the moment. I still see all those chinese guys directly blasting the shit out of their sites rank pretty well at the moment.

i saw massive ranking drop for one of my site 3 days back. It was ranking on 1st page 7th position for main keyword and now it is gone.
I dont know whether it was algo update or something else.

Have you done anything new/different in your backlink building process? Did you not post content for awhile? Change your on-site?
