I'm thinking about upgrading laptop for using with my IM life.
I am attracted by this one below. I wonder if it worth the price?

HP Pavilion Gaming 15
- Intel Core i7-6700HQ
- 16GB DDL3 Ram
- SSD.M2 512GB + 1TB 5200rpm HDD
- DVD-RW
- 15.6" FHD LED IPS
- Windows 10 Personal License
- VGA: nVidia GTX950M 4GB
- Battery 4 Cells
- Weight: 2.3 Kg
- Free wireless mouse

Price: $899

WHy don't buy used ? I think the laptop is more for the gamers than IM. You don't need all that power for IM. Most IM gurus have a fleet of VPSs and dedicated machines running their softwares 24/7, you can't do that with a laptop.

As for the laptop, the caracs are powerful and will get you very comfortable and idk about the price i guess it's a good deal. But do you really need it for IM ? i have an i5 with 4GB RAM and runs perfectly smooth never lagged. i just need extra 4GB ram to boost it a little

That is pretty decent price for the specs. I will go for it.

Good configuration you can buy this but make sure all part are genuine wherever you buy .

It has good specs. The screen might be a little small for the GPU you're getting though. It won't likely have the chance to be used to its full potential imo.

Get a ThinkPad.

It is well worth it in my opinion, go for it.

Are you sure the price is 899? I checked on HP website cause was interested myself. $899 price was for lower specs, 8gb hdd, i5 and etc. Then you can choose better options and when I chose what you have written above price was $1.5k - that looks more like a reality.

This price is in my local country and HP is having special promotion during this period in my country.

Yes, the free wireless mice is attracted me lol!
He is being sarcastic. To be honest, I'd steer away from HP, Asus is much better brand, more reliable, and less prone to damage, overheating etc.. but it's up to you.. don't buy without a warranty.

The specs are really, really good

I was in the market 6 months ago and laptops with these specs were easly over 1000$
I even think this one is underpriced (that's not a bad thing for you ofc), it even has 512mb SSD, those are expensive as fuck

You could only argue if HP is good or bad. but for that price any laptop is good

I just checked, and in my country this laptop costs 1500$ without the SSD, only HDD

Can you please Pm me the link of the shop if it's online maybe?

Are you sure the price is correct?

These laptops go for around $1200-1500 without the 1TB HDD.

Edit: Looks like someone posted the same as me while I was looking up the laptop.

Buy that laptop if you want to be distracted. It will run games, nicely. If you want a solid IM laptop, get a Cloudbook.

EDIT: Also, if you already have a functional computer, use that until IM pays for your new machine. Even then, I'd get a Cloudbook, as they have great battery life, are inexpensive, and aren't at all half bad!
