Pinterest on a downhill slope?!

hey friends

lately, my pinterest traffic has been steadily declining.
and its a pretty big drop, significant enough to affect my earnings.
has anyone else seen a recent drop in traffic?
and i have been pinning lately, but my traffic is still not going back up.
pinterest seems to be terrible for getting traffic now, when compared to a year ago.
i guess they are making algo changes and all that crap, so you pay money for their stupid promoted pins.

There are a ton of variables, depending on how active / how many followers you have and if you are pinning with smartfeed in mind. I'm in the process of building up my following, and I don't get much traffic due to just having a low follower count / unoptimized pins. Hope it helps.

For me pinterest traffic is beyond great across all my projects.I guess it depends on your personal preferences. I never understood ppl trying to drive traffic through instagram or twitter..now THAT feels like an utter waste of time to me.They did release some changes in the past year or so. But that is all for the best of the users.I am very actively using my private pinterest account - and now matter what ppl are spaming, i hardly get to see it it. And if i get to see spam, unfollow is one click away. Personally I think it is really great what they are doing. As there is hardly an "social" aspect anyway, I really don't care whom I follow, as long as I see pins that are interesting *shrug*of course people who built up a very strong following in the past might see a negative effect now *shrug*...but seriously...who sticks to the same strategy for 3 years on the internet?

My traffic has increased from last year mainly because a handful of my pins were picked up large influencers a few months ago. I'm still receiving the benefits of residual traffic. What I'm finding difficult is gaining traction without these large influencers. The smart feed algo is limiting organic exposure to newer pins. So it's hard to test out different pin styles. I'm sticking with pinterest because an audience of mostly women is already warmed up to offers like weightloss and beauty products. As it stands, I have CB weightloss banners converting on cold traffic although my niche is general food recipes. Perhaps if I narrow things down to smaller niche, I'll have better conversion. I just spent close to 3 hours adding targeted Amazon products on my popular pages. I should have done that months ago. We'll see how it goes.

I have just set up my websites - 4 at the moment, that are Pinterest-tailored. One of them is getting some nice traffic because one pin went semi-viral (but still growing) and that particular pin brings me 99% of the traffic. So, it is possible some of your viral pins just wore off and none of the newer ones you pinned went viral and you see a drop in traffic.Smart-feed of Pinterest is actually working really good - I see a lot of small accounts as "related" in my feed, that is always good. FB on the other hand favors only the big guys and shows you the small ones only when they pay.

I have just never been able to get Pinterest to actually become anything. Its follow and unfollow rates are dreadfully slow, people don't follow you for massive interactions. The trick of it seems to have very optimized posts- and to have them repeatedly because they start to degrade in the Pinterest algorithm in time. I wouldn't be surprised to find that there was some hidden long tail but with out a massive external following to push into Pinterest its so hard to gain followers that actually interact with you.

I guess each to his/her own. I prefer Twitter. A few niche is huge on Pinterest, but not too many and adult isn't allowed, whereas with Twitter you can promote pretty much anything. If you're after the greatest engagement, you promote on instagram. Every social network has its pros and cons.

Telling the truth, i've never really understood Pinterest, i mean i don't really see the purpose. I get it that it's primarily not a social network, but what is it then? If i want visual inspiration, i go to instagram or tumblr. (When i last visited Pinterest, the overall picture quality was pretty bad, but maybe i was just unlucky and/or it's changed since then.) If i want to store, organize, share pics or albums of pics, again, i don't need Pinterest for that. If you click on a pic, it leads nowhere, so you can't buy the stuff or even just get more info. There must be a point in using it though, because millions of people use it.

What is pinterest? A a visual search engine. Treat it like that and you will get unbelievable results - no matter the niche. And btw - adult works perfect on pinterest. It's burn and churn - but if you are channeling it right, its great. Like 20 Percent of my fake followers are very explizit adult pages.

Well instagram traffic can be okay. But seriously only if you reach a million followers or so. If you put the same effort into pinterest you'll get a 100 fold the results.

IMO pinterest is the single best place to put your money in right now.
Instagram is oversatured and ppl are making money with other ppl trying to make money with pinteret (aka shoutouts). Instagram will grow further but we are reaching the point where you have to put in quite some money to have sucess - unlike pinterest.

I have a pin that is 18 months old, and it is still sending 120 visitors to a money site daily. And I litterally did nothing else but pinning it ONCE.
Show me how you recieve 10k+ visits with a tweets (even looped) or instagram and you have me convinced.

As for the point of using it. If you only follow crap people and pin crap stuff, your smart feed will suck as well. Most people use it as a perfect social bookmark profile.

All around traffic levels across all major platforms is don a bit currently due to seasonal shifts.

People in Summer are now worrying about adjusting their lives and will soon adapt to using social media on the go.

It really depends on niche and trend, you got to analyze the patterns. but yea it has gotten harder and everyone isn't going to get the same amount of traffic as before.
For me it's still a gold mine.
