Should I get a yellow lab or a Rottweiler?

I have a Rott ,but for many reasons i suggest you getting a Lab,only if you live in a dangerous city. The best choice would be adopting one from a shelter and not giving money to someone who see animals like $$

Well many people tell me not to get a Rott because of the stereotypes similar to pitbulls but I really do prefer Rotts over labs

Stereotypes always have some truth to them. They aren't really similar to pit bulls in mentality, pit bulls are primarly fighting dogs. Rotties are guard dogs inherently, so they don't usually initiate the attacks, they protect (their owner, their territory, themselves etc.) and they're pretty damn good at it. I personally have never owned a Rotty, but i lived close to one and that was enough for me to not want that breed ever. My dog was almost killed by a Rotty, my friend's dog also almost got killed by not the same Rotty, but a different one.

I guess a lot depends on how you train the dog and every dog is different, but some things are hard wired into the brain and this breed can turn hostile really fast maybe not against you, but other dogs, other people, your neighbors or even your children, so pretty much anything which is not you and not respected by it. I would never be comfortable to have my kids around a Rottweiler.

Another thing you should consider: Are you strong enough for an adult Rottweiler? Because most certainly there will be situations, when you need to hold it back with not just words, but your physical power.

You do as you please of course, but unless you live in some dangerous place or you're someone who needs this kind of protection of a primarily guard dog, the Lab would be the wiser choice and an easier dog to live with.
Plus Rotties eat a lot lol, you need to calculate with that too.

Owning a Rotty comes with more responsibilty than owning a Lab imho.

I had a dog, half lab, half bracke, it was the cutest, friendliest and best dog I ever had

If it's your first dog you will own and don't know how to train them definitely a lab, because you need to have a strong hand and mind for rott :D

I would go for a lab because they are most likely more easily to learn stuff, a rottweiler can sometimes do difficult with stuff if you do not go to a dog school or train it.

I'm a teenage girl so I may not have the full strength to hold a Rottweiler back but if I do have trouble then my dad will help me with the dog other than that I have full responsibility to take care of the dog. I met nice Rottweilers before but lots of people say they're scary since they're big and black lol. Plus they are way bigger than pit bulls are. Not all Rottweilers will maul you alive. :)

Pit bulls aren't as bad as what the media claims, its just that most people that have them are either ghetto gangbangers or rednecks. Properly training and taking care of a pitbull makes it no more dangerous than any other powerful breed of dog.
