Ask Me Anything about selling on eBay

What do you think about eBay sellers drop shipping using Amazon Prime?

I think the method has a ceiling because if the arbitrage gets to be a certain % of sales at amazon, Amazon will change its rules to make it impossible to make money at it. Why? Let's say Amazon sells something for $50 and you arbitrage it and sell it at $60. So why would Amazon care since they're making money at it, right? Let's look at the numbers. Amazon takes 20% cut when I sell something there. So for that $50 item, amazon takes $10, out of that $10, they have to pay for 2nd day shipping, which probably is like $8 for them so they make about $2 gross profit. Now, if they cut the arbitrage people out, they sell the item at $60, get a $12 cut, pay $8 for shipping, and now they made $4, which is double the profit for Amazon. I suspect that right now, they tolerate arbitrage because in increases seller count. But at some point, they will say, "hold shit, we could be making $XXX,XXX,XXX dollars a month if we cut out arbitrage".

At that point the bottom 99% of arbitrage people will be put out of business.

LOL amazon doesnt make the prices man, they are just the market place, There will always be arbitrage, It is basic supply and demand. If they raise the price to $60 then list the same product on ebay for $70.00

Gosh i feel dumber after reading that last post.

I want to use 1 credit card for multiple paypal account?

That's why they'll shut off arbitrage if they ever come to the conclusion that they will make a lot more money without it; the market price in ecommerce is what the end user is willing to pay for something and Amazon will at some point would rather sell it at that price rather than a lower price + arbitrage.

There will always be arbitrage,

I was asked a very specific question about using Amazon Prime arbitrage. I never said there wouldn't be arbitrage. Retail to eBay/Amazon arbitrage will always be around.

Dude, you can't come up with a live paypal account to pay for the same god damn laptop you've been trying to buy for the last 3 months and almost got banned because of it. You're not exactly in position to call other people dumb here.

NO. Do not violate the 2nd commandment.

2. Thou shalt use separate everything for each eBay account...and that means EVERYTHING (name, address, credit card, bank account).

Can you sell branded items for example some stickers, and begs?

I know my question is quite a nub. So my apologies. I am just thinking of starting selling on eBay. So, I wonder: does my physical location matter for this? Or I can work from any place. Is there any preferences? You know, not much people in my location buy on eBay.

You should be okay as long as you are in the same country that you are registered in and use the banks from the same country.

honesly
do you ever not send any stuff ?

I think in the last 7 years over maybe ten thousand transactions, I think I failed to send something once and had to cancel. I don't list anything that I don't have in my hands ready to ship, and I try to ship those items within 24 hours.

Can i get a paypal account for my own personal use?

You are allowed to have a separate personal and business paypal accounts. I'm 99% sure they must have separate bank accounts attached to them.

Google is your friend.

Im curious to know what service provider / hot spot are you using for Ip's? Cricket, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T ???

If you dont want to tell me where your getting your virgin IP VPNs at on what website? please just tell me exactly what you are paying a month for each virgin IP VPN your purchasing so i can get an idea on the cost for pricing on each virgin VPN.

yes, each profile has its own cookies and flash objects

Thanks for the confirmation i have always used multiple profiles all along wasnt sure on using the same phone untill you told me because when you log onto ebay dot com through mobile only it always says we cant use cookies please use ebay app which is the kiss of death.

another way TOML3030 to keep cookies and flash objects seprate where you dont have to use multiple profiles is by using different web browsers for each account its just more work that way and is why i dont go that route.

There are multiple vendors who offer this service.

It costs about $10/mo for each IP.

I don't do this because I don't want to accidentally log in with the wrong browser and compromise my accounts.

TOML3030 im curious what service provider / hot spot are you using for Ip's at first like you said? Cricket, Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile, Simple Mobile, U.S. Cellular, Frontier Communications, Telcel, CenturyLink, Consumer Cellular, Straight Talk, Cox Communications, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T ??? or another provider?

Who ever you tell me is not going to have any effect on you simply because there has been trillions of Ip's used from peoples phones / hot spots right onto Ebay and Paypal!

I think you're missing something, as any of these should work.

Im not missing anything i know any would work but some have bigger Ip pools than other providers so which ones are you using?

You sound like you have a lot of experiance using Ebay long enough to know which providers have very large Ip pools so why dont you tell me which services providers you are using?

1. Feedbacks in general do not help with eBay. Do not worry about feedbacks.

2. I do not recommend drop shipping from a foreign country because of increased shipping time. You will probably never get premium placing on searches if you have 15 day delivery time for not custom made items.

3. Do not worry about the price too much. The same item that sells for $19.99 will sell better with higher search placement than something that sells for $17.99 with lower search placement.

Thank you for your answer. Now I'm going to start looking for US based sellers and products to sell. I've started with dropshipping to be able to learn about ecommerce first. And than, if this works for me, to be able to earn some side money I will try to use some fulfilment company, because I'm located outside US. Again, thank you for you answer.
