Hey guys,

I own a store that does a healthy amount of revenue per year and gets around 50k hits a month. Most of the traffic is coming from social, which I want to change.

My niche is a little odd. Sales are worth a lot per sale, and keyword competition is low, but there are a lot of search terms/products we need to rank for.

We actually have two facets to our site. One part is a media site, with loads of high quality reviews. Many of which are ranking on the bottom of the first page without any off-page SEO, but as we know, that's worthless and #1 is where it's at! The articles on our media site link to our store site. So ideally someone googling a review of one of the products we sell finds our review, and then comes to our store site & buys the product.

Anyways, I just have a few questions:

1. We have a list of people with dinky little blogs that are ranking slightly below us, or slightly above us that we'd like to link to us. Ideally, an affiliate link. That being said, do affiliate links pass on the same amount of link juice as regular links? If not, what's a good way to squeeze SEO value out of our affiliates?

2. Do you think we should just create a few WP blogs and populate them with 2-3 hq articles that link back to our main site? Or is this more likely to hurt than help?

3. Should we just pay someone here to create a PBN for us?

I know this is probably not the answer you're not looking for.
I know that what I'm about to say is probably going to be quite uncomfortable for some people.
But there is really know two ways about it.
A lot of the shortcuts you are considering probably won't work long into the future.
In this game, you need to have a solid game plan.
You need to look at the big picture and you need to look at the long game.
What is the long game? Very simple: build an authority website.
It seems you already have a healthy base to work with.
You already have people visiting your site.
You might want to come up with a content-creation strategy that recruits people who are already going to your site and incentivize their loyalty.

What I mean by this is not necessarily giving them money.

Maybe you can consider giving them some sort of digital freebie or some sort of mental reward.

Whatever the case may be, get them to work hand in glove with you to generate more content that would draw more people to your website.

The good, old days of building something with quick shortcuts are long and gone.
If you want to build a real cash cow that would produce revenues long into the future, you need to think big.

Thankfully, you already have an existing traffic.

You only need to work with that traffic to produce some sort of internal content -generation system.

I would create the WP blogs with lots of unique, quality content with links back to your site. This is good because you are in control of those links pointing back to your site and it will strengthen your ranking. You will of course need to use appropriate anchors in the content and then push backlinks to those blogs for the desired effect. Be careful with PBN's.

1. No, they won't pass value. Ask if you can supply them with a great content page that could bring them traffic and include a link within it.

2. You could do that using free Web 2.0 blogs. Yes they work, if they are high quality. I provide that service if you want to PM me.

Hey, actually that's what we do right now for our content. It all comes from the community and we offer them discounts on big ticket items in exchange for writing articles for us. I'm with you too, and don't believe in short cuts per say.

Awesome, thanks man! We already created the 2.0s with proper HQ content, each blog has 5-10 posts scheduled to go out, different IPs, etc...

The PBN thing I guess is something we'll have to do manually. Such a PITA but if it has to get done, it has to get done!

No.

I wouldn't do options 2 or 3. I would contact the blog owners and ask if you can guest write an article each for them, and include a backlink or two in the articles. It's going to be a heck of a lot quicker than creating PBNs.
