I have an article that is on page 1 and brought in the bulk of my traffic and my income.

On April 8th my keywords from the article jumped up nicely on page 1 after building PBN links and everyday after I was getting affiliate commissions from double the traffic I usually get. On April 13th I noticed traffic pretty much dried up for the article but I just put it down to the keyword dancing around. I was right and on the 14th the traffic shot right back up, on the 15th it dried up but the keywords all remained on page 1, today 16th the keywords are all on page 1 not dancing and even though it's still very early here in the UK I can tell the traffic will have dried up today as well  If it was a penalty surely all the keywords would have tanked, right?

The only major changes I have made to my website recently are majorly updating another article from 500 words to about 1000 and adding a live chat function to the site.

Anyone had the same problem? I would greatly appreciate any feedback.

Did you checked how many ads in the 1st page before and now?

There are 0 ads. I'm in a pharmaceutical niche where no google ads are allowed I think.

Maybe you are getting the traffic from a different keyword you are not tracking? Check GWT and semrush.

On GWT it shows all of the traffic came from 2 keywords.

One is 2,500 searches per month currently at Position 7 the other 15,000 searches is position 12 and was never on page 1 even when traffic was fine and sales were.

Hope its not a seasonal keyword and also try to search from another IP, logged out and incognito mode... see if the rankings are still there.

Maybe what are you seing is a customized search result... you check the rankings by yourself or with a software?

If you check them by yourself try to check them with another browser and see the difference :D
Cheers!

Yeah I wouldn't think it would be seasonal. The search volumes are consistently growing atleast on keyword planner.

I checked on Incognitio with like 10 different vpns and proxies. Today I got serpbook to confirm indefintley and the results still showed it on page 1.

Don't judge by what you notice in a single day, there are many factors that come to play. Allow a period of time and take your average performance.

Check from google results whether you are hacked and redirected? It happens a lot in pharma niche. Also i hope you dint had server downtime.

Yes, I thought maybe I was hacked but I checked again now and nobody is re-directing my traffic...
