Hello Everyone,

I am starting one local niche and i was looking for emd domain but dot com is registered and info and org domains are available...

If i register info or org domain for local niche then will it be hard for me to rank or it does not make any difference?

Please advice me from your experience....

You should register a .com partial match domain instead of an EMD - I don't think using an EMD will give you an advantage

You have to choose the domains with .com .co .org to rank easily and efficiently. Because it brings traffic from all over the World and other domains bring traffic from specific locations mostly.

In my experience EMD doesn't matter when you are ranking global or nationally, but when you are focusing on a local market and your EMD is local as well..it can help out a ton. This is specially true if the location is in your EMD and keyword as well.

Example: "Tshirts in Dallas" ///tshirtsindallas.com

The smaller your local area the more effect this will have. Bigger cities might not see as much help from this.

If you can find a local tld then that helps too.


I would be most concerned about the already registered .com EMD you mentioned. I would deep dive their site and see where they are ranking and how they are ranking. You would get a lot of valuable info from that.
