Usually it's used to bring a great diversity of links to your site. But you can use them for 1st tier or 2nd tier. For this service we allow 1 URL and up to 5 keywords (we use naked url with generic anchors too).

forum profiles: 80% .ru/.ua/.us/.cn/.nl/.eu/etc, 20% .com
web2.0 properties: 60% .com/.org, 40% other

Take this for what it's worth... wouldve been nice to know that a huge majority of the links are coming from international extensions.
