According to keyword revealer my hardest keyword is a 15 which is VERY LOW according to them. My main keyword has 1k searches and it's only an 8 top 10 are all forum posts with 3 backlinks max from shitty sources, 9 links out of 10 in first page have 0 backlinks.

My website has 16 articles and the one trying to rank for this keyword is over 1 month old, has 550 words, ~0.8% keyword density, when I first posted it I shared it on facebook , twitter, google + and bookmarked it on stumbleupon and linkedin.

3 weeks later I sent 6 expired tumblrs with minimum PA of 28 and maximum PA of 34 with clean backlink profile and decent backlinks in each of them + 5 links from the forums ranking in top 10, which means contextual backlinks although 4 of those 5 forums are nofollow.

Still only ranking in #16 even though the forums have no links to the actual URL, no social shares no bookmarks no backlinks + most of them are linking to me.

Anyone ever had something like this happen?

Why not try expanding your article a little more? You could probably up the keyword density a bit as well.

A few social signals maybe (G+ and FB)?
I think those forum posts are ranking due to their domain authority and relevance and it has nothing to do with the backlinks they have.
PS. Please let me know how it goes...I'm in the same situation as you.

It's actually at 0.6% keyword density, I can try but it kinda bothers me how those forums barely mention the kw if even once and they still outrank me hard.

Are you trying to rank with a fresh domain ? That can take longer.

It was an old domain 3 years old however it had a bit of spammy links in 2012-2013 which have been deleted back in 2014 (I checked the history with majestic)

May be your competitors are using some hidden PBN links?

Are the forums exceptionally niche relevant? They might be getting powered up by overall authority and relevance.

Add more content and pillar articles, give it a week and you'll rank.

A forums with millions of users wouldn't use PBNs for a single completely random thread with less than 15 replies.

They are kinda relevant yea but the thread is not 100% relevant to the keyword. They're getting powered up by authority definitely but I should've gotten past them a long time ago due to decent backlinks + social presence + bookmarks + content + onpage seo.

Add more content and pillar articles, give it a week and you'll rank.

Article is close to 700 words (I said it was 500-550 but it was actually 640 words, added +50 or so to insert another keyword so ~700 words total). That should be more than enough to rank for such a shitty keyword

Just because the links are gone doesn't mean you might not still be penalized. Add the site to GWT.

I did when I purchased the domain, not reporting anything wrong.

If it was penalized I don't think it would even get to #10-20

Give it a while. And some more posts, and maybe buy/create a PBN for the money site, along with social links( including bookmarking) and you should rank just fine.

I think its all about time for you give it a coupe of weeks to see sme movement.

No money to spend thats why I need to rank this site.

Post is already 1 month and 1 week old

Build some pbn's that should do it.

No money to spend and shouldn't need it for such a weak keyword

What is your on-site structure? Do you have any in-content interlinking between your articles?

What is your on-site structure? Do you have any in-content interlinking between your articles?

Silo structure. Only interlinking is done at the bottom of the article with related articles: then links to a random post from the same category

Silo sounds good, though I'm not sure if 16 articles is enough for a good silo architecture. You can try increasing article count, even if they don't target any "money" keywords, just to add some more authority and relevance to your main articles. Increasing content length may also be a good idea.

The articles you're trying to rank, what level are they on? Are they homepage, silo landing page or support articles. My experience with siloing is that support articles take quite a while to start ranking (longer than your 1 month 1 week, though my backlinking has been minimal). I'm talking about very tight siloing here - meaning not a single internal link that doesn't belong in the "ideal" silo
structure.

Also, you may want to try to do some in-content interlinking between articles in the same silo. Be careful with your anchors though, avoid exact matches.

Keep building links slowly, and go very light on exact anchors. Allow time for ranking, some keywords could take months to start ranking.
