What do you think about this domain?

Hi there,

I want to create a new website about a specific topic.
Now I just found a domain which was firstly registred in 2001 and was used till 2012.
It fits the main category of my niche. My niche is about a sub-category of the domain.
The domain is indexed by Google.

But I'm not sure about the metrics:

URL: 23
Ext. backlinks: 63
Domains: 13

(Subdomain)
CF: 20
URL: 17
Ext. backlinks: 63
Domains: 13

(Subdomain)

The url has the highest metrics (http://www.domain.com) but the root-Domain doesn't and it has only 13 backlinks from unique domains.
The url got his high metric because of one do-follow backlink which has TF and CF of 35.

I would like to use the domain as a 301 redirect to a new domain which I will buy.

Would you buy this expired domain?

the referring domains are a bit low for my taste. I prefer 20-30+ and some authority links going to it.

I assume, you prefer it because that the single strong do-follow link coud be deleted sometime?

That, and also it's better to have that one strong do-follow + a lot of other ref domains (possibly other strong ******** links as well, not just one).

It's nasty if a domain depends on one backlink because you check them once when registering and (if you don't forget to) next time renewal is due. So, chances to end up with a domain without power without noticing for a long time are high. On the other hand, I'd make exceptions, we have quite a few with just a handful of links, but when there's one direct PR8 (yes, PR is dead, but a formerly PR8 subpage with the actual link on it means this link can't be that bad) for example, certainly worth considering, especially if the domain is available at $X registration price. So, I'd say: Just make sure not the majority of your domains are like this.
