Hey BHW,

I have an Instagram account with 4k followers I started about a month ago. Ive been posting 3 times a day every day and all of the posts use hashtags. I haven't bought any followers (all have been gained via following and unfollowing) yet I'm only getting 50-100 likes per post. Does anyone know why I'm getting such low engagement on my posts? I'm in the automotive niche.

Thank you in advance for anyone who can help.

Best regards

wait a sec...

first, you make a thread about making money on IG, now you ask how to increase engagement? you must be kidding. credibility lost all over the place.

If you are doing the follow/unfollow method, start following likes of photos of big accounts with the same niche as you. Also, try to be more specific with your hashtags because if you post a photo with #car as a hashtag, there are thousands shared with that hashtag daily. This helped me with my engagement. I hope this will help you too.

Please go read my last reply on that post. Hopefully it'll clear stuff up.

Thanks for the tip! I definitely need to change up how I'm doing all that. Practice makes perfect I guess

Saturated niche, engagement is very low; 1-2%

No such thing as a saturated niche. Perfect example is nature/outdoors/travel...there are a dickload of accounts or there and most of them have great engagement.

He does seem to be right on the low engagement though. I'm averaging like a 1.5% engagement rate, and another account (amazingcars247) with 2.9m followers looks to have like a .8-.9% engagement rate.

Even with this low of an engagement rate is it still possible to make decent money if I stick with it or should I start another account in a different niche?

Your engagement is definately low but it's definately not because there are too many accounts around with the same theme that's all. To be blunt it can be 1 of 2 things, or both. 1. You may think your followers are all real but a good % may be spam accounts for whatever reason and 2. Your content isn't up to standard.

I do always try to post the highest quality pictures I can find. Hopefully my followers aren't spammy. I've gotten then via Instagress botting & had it follow and unfollow people who follow other major car accounts. Should I change it to follow people who post under a certain hashtag?

Don't follow people's followers. Start to follow those who liked their posts (Likers) + also follow pvt accounts because most engagement will come from them.

I misscommunicated that one - what I meant is that car niche is like that, low engagement. I have 2 accs in that niche and both have lower engagement. On the other hand, pets and animals are always high engagement profiles, and that niche has like millions of accounts.

Ah, okay. Thanks for that, it does make sense. If you're familar with Instagress, what do I set the media to so I get the more engaged followers?

I am sorry I've never used instagress so i can't say anything. But there in instagress there must be an options like following based on hashtags, following people's followers or following those who like someone post. Just look for it.

Alright, thank you for the help!

It must be your niche
i am in photography niche and i have something like 4.5K followers and i get 500-900 likes on my pics

just post quality as you do and grow the account .......

That's kind of what I was thinking. I'm considering starting another account and just working on growing them both to test a new niche

Hi Mr. Spectre,

Your suggestion to follow likers of big accounts is spot on. I have not thought of it before, mainly because Instagress, which i use, does not have this option. They only allow to follow : 1) Followers of usernames and 2) Followings of usernames. Do you know which other similar bots, maybe Follow Liker allow to follow those who like photos of big accounts? Thank you

Hi, so also use Instagress, and looks like you can only follow Followers of usernames and Followings of usernames. The option suggested by Mr. Spectre is unfortunately unavailable. I will try to find out which other bots have this functionality.

Yeah the automotive Niche is very saturated, I suggest doing something on your page nobody else does to drive new traffic.

Hope that helped you!
