Wtf is going on here? I had just reached the 1000-like mark per post but then suddenly all of my pics are now getting 500-700 likes

So disappointing, I do not know what has happened.

Open your instagram on your PC/Laptop
Click on your profile, and click on temporarily disable my account
Enable your account after a few days, and you'll be alright!

Yeah older accounts that I've been using's engagement has decreased because of the new algorithm update.

Since video's now show views, people "like" a lot less which means photos also receive a lot less "likes".

That's got nothing to do with photo like rates

Exactly the same here. Accounts with pics that hit the 1k mark are about 30% down since a few weeks, even when my account is growing. Nothing changed with my uploads and tags.

My theory: they changed something with the discovery tab and general organic traffic. Have you analyzed where your likes are coming from (using minter.io or some comparable service)?
If my theory holds true, then your followers still should like the same..but less hashtag likes etc.

I think it's just the usual drop, the same thing always happens to me with new accounts

I start growing a new account, first week or two it get's 200-300 likes per pic, and after I reach roughly 1k followers, likes drop to 100-150

I also had it happen to me on accounts which have 10k followers few months ago, so it's defenitely not the new algorithm

Some of my clients did find a performance drop on their Instagram accounts but it was from older customers who do not engage with their eCommerce branding anymore. What a drop in engagement meant for them is not all for the same thing. Sometimes people just lose interest even if your content is high quality and engaging. I know I get tired of engaging on specific niche pages like games and such because sometimes I just don't feel like it. It's called the real world, and you need to know your followers very well to understand when its a drop in performance based on your content quality or based on something big and tragic that just happened in their lives.
