Amazon closed my account because why the fuck not

I've been doing Pinterest + Amazon for a month now. 0 success and 2 days ago I got 8 clicks and 5 orders. I was thrilled. I made money from the project that I didn't put my best work into. So I made some plans in the last two days and decided that I'm gonna make everything better, I'm gonna scale up, focus more on quality... and that's when shit happened. I made $1.90 from 5 items that I sold and I saw that yesterday. So today I tried to login to my account and I got an error saying that I used incorrect details. Go to my email and there it was. An email from Amazon:

Thank you for applying for the Associate program. Upon review, we are unable to accept your application. A part of our criteria is that your site has to be established with enough unique content. We rejected your application due to one or more of the following reasons.

- Lack of content which is original to your site and beneficial to your visitors
- Pages that are mainly empty when advertisement content is removed

What's up with that first sentence? I had that account for 2 months! Only after I sold a few times they decided that my site is not good enough. My site was a simple e-commerce based site with items I was promoting on Pinterest. I had SSL, I had a logo, I added a disclaimer, I had privacy policy, I made sure my sites looks really nice... What was I supposed to do - add articles? Write reviews?

Since I didn't put a lot of work into that (still many hours wasted and some money) and didn't make money with it, I'm not mad. Now I just realized and felt with all those other people that had their accounts deleted only after they got a few sales. So, be careful what you do. Good thing this happened to me on the very beginning. If I had more dolla bills there, I would be so angry right now.

I was simply showing products on Pinterest and people were interested it seems. Someone clicked, they liked what they saw and bought. BAM! Account deleted.

That sucks, because wanted to get in on that sweet Pinterest traffic with an "eCommerce" site, like you.
Do you have content on the "product page"? If so, how much? Is it unique or scraped from the amazon listing?
Right now, I see that you need a blog section, that can help the SEO process a bit, and promote a few products from there two. But you still leave the whole eCommerce site pretty much empty, the whole idea behind the eShop approach is to convert better and you can't write 500 words for a scarf when you have 132 products (hypothetical case).

They usually pre-approve every application, but they screen it for content etc etc, only when you made the first sale from your site..

The fact that you flew under the radar for two months does not mean your website was okay previously. All this means is that amazon does not have the capacity to review every website that places links to their products, so they filter and chose only to review those that start to make sales.

They want to avoid getting known as a company that promotes affiliates to place shady and spammy links, and that is entirely their good right.

Basically amazon said your site sucks so improve it add value too it? not so hard to do and i agree whit them!
I dont find it strange you got banned after your first sale, also its not strange they ban you after a sale(s). (read the rules maybe)
New sites they always manual review if 1 sale happens. not if you apply it to your account.

So now you learned make a decent site, whit a decent amount of content add some value too it.
apply it, and manual review will happen if you sale a item.

Also clearly state in there tos/rules/faq. maybe do some research first if you want to promote for a specific provider.

Solution:
1: Work for your money .
2: Get it outsourced, enough services on bhw
3: write, translate or spin content your self
4: make it automated
5: look for quality stuff
6: if you dont care about seo block robots.txt copy paste existing reviews <<<<< then post it to pinterest or any social media.
7: options are endless let your brain start working, more seems like laziness due no proper research and fast money. welcome to the though world you need to work (a little) or be smart!

I haven't opened up an account for this reason. From what I've seen your site has to have more information than Wikipedia and your traffic and methods need to be purer glacier water.

Yeah, this right here.

There is so many threads here on how Amazon closed account after people made even hundreds of sales. Not gonna spend 50 hours working on one website just to get 6% commission and after all that fear for my account just because they can close when they want to.

But thanks for the heads up. If I ever decide to try them again I will make sure my site is goddamn perfect.

Actually amazon shut my account down the other day for some reason, I need to look into why. Obviously thats not a very significant form of income for me!

Look on the bright side, atleast you have a chance to re-apply after fixing up your site. Most people never even get that chance, Amazon just drops the permanent life long ban hammer.

I'm about to get into this myself - Amazon affiliate. Honestly have a good read around the forums here, there's loads of info. I haven't even started yet (currently building my site), and I knew that they'll screen when you get your first sales and that you had to have a reasonable amount of content and that it has to be original etc, all from forums. It's all in the research. I hope you don't give up on it because this is how it goes it seems, but good luck.

Whats that saying? Failing to prepare is preparing to fail. Saying that I'll fail myself most likely and I've been researching for a good 6 months most evenings
